Hi,
I'd say it is a Flex-PCB or a similar foil connector. You find these inside digital PJs where they connect the panel(s) to the main board...

Yep and that's a bad one. It's off by half a pad. If you look close you can actually see the conductive particals in the anisotropic conductive film used to make the electrical connection and there are not many of them.

Had to work up the nerve to remove the ribbon. F it up and the project is trashed. It was stuck on much harder then I thought but I managed to remove it without ruining the ribbon or board (at least not by my doing). Just descovered that I am out of alcohol to clean it up so it's off to the store. Here's the side of the ribbon that was stuck to the board. It came off pretty clean.

Well the SOB is re-attached. That is a royal pain in the backside. If this does not fix it then there's a crack in a trace in the ribbon cable. This is as close as I could get. It's a one shot deal. When it touches, it's done.
