Hi Tim,

Just confirm that the P14 is exactly at 6.5vdc. I'ved swapped red & blue neckboard but still the red did not fire up. It's confirmed that the problem lies with the hvps but just not sure which component is failing. As mentioned, i did try to swapped with my unstable hvps and all tube managed to fire up.

Hello

Do not assume you have another HVPS problem

6.50 vdc on the filaments is a bit high and could have weakened the red tube

Do you measure G2 okay at the red neckboard? 450 to 550 volts dc is needed

How many hours on this machine? UTIL, 9 , 0901, 6, 3 Include Standby hours as the filament is full on during Standby

Look into the red lens and see if there is an image very faint

Hey Tim,
don't know if this is with every Marquee, but on my 8500 Ultras, filament is down to 4V in Standby.
Just because you said "full on"

Regards, Julian

Hello

Don't confuse Ready/Off with Standby

The four power states are

Unplugged No Power

Plugged into Mains (Ready but Off).......Filament 4v

Standby (On with Picture Muted)........Filament 6.35v

Fully On and viewable........Filament 6.35v

The last two states are a problem where the filament voltage creeps up

Hi Tim,

I've measured the red G2 value is 135 vdc but after 30 seconds, it drop to 65 vdc. I've adjusted the p14 value and now it's 6.31vdc.

After adjusting p14 to 6.31vdc the red tube still does not fire up.

By the way, the hours of use is:

With CRTs ON: 33416
In Standby: 15760
Total: 49176

Hi,

Wow, that's a lot of hours!
Hey, I might be able to help You with this in person. I'm now sitting at Changi Apt and waiting for my flight to Germany. But on the 20th I will be back for another three weeks. I even could bring some (small) spare parts with me. Maybe You could try the following (if the cables are long enough): Try to swap the red and green G2 cables at the neck boards. If now the green tube stays dark, the problem definately lies within the G2 circuit inside the HVPS...

Guys,

Barclay66 were at my place for the last 2 weekend to look at my hvps. Now I have at least 3 hvps that is in working condition and really would like to thank him in this forum as well.

Not only that, he also gave me the latest chips for the clm U7(V5.6) and U35(V5.0). The chip for U35 (V5.0) is incredible as it give us the additional G2 sub brightness adjustment and now the colour is very outstanding.

Thanks Barclay66!!!!

It was my pleasure and I had a great time!
I couldn't hope even seeing a soldering iron during my stay in Singapore and now that: Having one in hand and getting it to work productively. Thank You for the opportunity and the nice welcome! I really felt at home...
