They would have to pay staff to work on shipping and taking orders, so they wouldnt make anything selling them at $1 each unless it was the entire load and you collect them yourself. |
OK lets try $5. That's $300,000. I mean the tubes had already been made so there has been a cost.

Yes, but at $1 or even $5 each the cost to staff the exercise would still cause it to run at a loss.

I don't thinks that's right. There would be a margin. The real problem is likely the tax system that allows a complete right off if they dump them and that's easy and probably more vuluable to VDC.

It's ok guys....really....it's not like options won't be available later on. Can get into a nice LCOS for a fraction of what these things originally costs. Chill out people!!

Who said anything about paying people $1 per hour??
I would have thought if they were $1 ea that lots would go in a short time. Must be slower in QLD.
Even if it took a month to move them all at $5ea you could pay 3people full time just to deal with this and have a nice profit left over what's more likely though is the people processing these sales would be processing other sales so even at $1 there would be a margin.

Tell me you dont expect 3 people can pack and post 60,000 tubes at $5 a tube on full time wages and still expect it to be worth the expenditure...
Do you expect they would move that many in a month? Not even in a year id think!!

No problem. They sure could. Even if it took 2months it still works but I reckon you could do it in one. You know tubes may well be boxed on the production line.

Why is it youre not in business?
Where is this sudden incredible amount of demand for rear pro tubes going to come from that you reckon theyd sell 60,000 in just 30 days? 2,000 tubes a day, 250 tubes sold every hour of a working day... 3 workers packing and shipping 41 tubes every minute... 13 tubes each person, each minute, 8 hrs a day for 30 days...
A tube packed and shipped every 1.4 seconds... If it could be done so fast, which i dont believe it can, where will they go? Who will purchase them all?
Still viable???

This is why they should have offered it up for sale first at discounted prices then the remaining lot.

Maybe, but at $5 a tube it would be a big loss due to costs involved, filling a bin costs hardly anything. And this is my point, you dont make $300,000 profit from $300,000 in sales, especially when staffing costs have been completely ignored, and staffing abilities have been over estimated by more than 500 times, which would allow them a tube every 12 minutes. 40 tubes on average a day, still assuming there will be customers to buy them.
1,500 days to sell 60,000 tubes employing 3 staff. Abit over 4 yrs later, the staff required have cost you about $576,000 assuming they will work for $16 an hour.
Still worth a look?

Yep. I've had to blow out old stock before and I can honestly say something is better than nothing.
My point being it would have been better to make something off it than pay for the bin.
Like I said better to have sold the whole thing to somebody else in one big lot and let them deal with it.

Oh for sure, if someone will take the lot in one hit, but if they wont, and the alternative is simular to what ive laid out above, give me the recycle bin any day before grossing $300,000 at a net of -$275,000 , give or take 100,000 ill pass either way.
In this country they pay you to take recyclables away ( id be amazed if they dont over there ), so options considered as they are, give me the bin

No here you pay for the bin, especially with leaded glass.
