"In addition to the pj I picked up a Panasonic DVD player with SDI output. TAW Rock and a Taw Rock Pro. Current design CVT-100. BNC cables. NEC switcher. NEC manuals. NEC software. Remotes for everything."
If the Rock is a Rock+ it has a SDI input. I think the Rock Pro has one as standard equipment. I'm not sure if a 10PG can lock onto 1080P but it will do a wicked job of 1080I Try that Rock and panny combo via SDI and you will be amazed.
I had the same setup with a 9PG Plus, SDI modded panny and Rock+. Stunning.
I also have contact information for the person who wrote the Rock's software
The Rock can only pass HD. The Rock Pro with optional HD input board can process HD. Hook them up to a monitor with HD input and check out all the menu screens and adjustments that can be made. In my opinion, way ahead of their time.

Why should the 10 PG not be able to lock 1080p?
With 110 kHZ it's not a problem at all !

So what is the needed bandwidth for 1080P 60Hz.?

Don't confuse bandwidth with scan frequency, 1080p needs approx. 67kHz, and needs 186MHz (-3dB) bandwidth to fully resolve, all plain PGs are specified at 1280*1024 as maximal resolution, so while they can handle on paper scan frequencies up to 90kHz, they might have trouble with 1080p
And don't forget golden rule: NEC PGs are not supposed to be used over 70kHz scanrate.

So 1080p/60 at 67.5KHz should be OK then. Does it make the projector run too hot?

I gave 1080p a shot with a rough setup and found serious ringing and faster wrap with the image. I would like to get it working at some point. For now 1080i is just fine though. I'm the BD player into the HDFury 2 and then through an extron 202Rxi. I may have to make adjustments to the HDFury to pump 1080p to this pj.
My current problem with the set is that I do not seem to have enough top/bottom pincushion to get the geometry dialed in. It needs alot more adjustment. Any suggestions?
This was a ceiling mounted unit that is now floor mounted if that has anything to do with it. Lens spacers? The manual is somewhat vague.
I can say that Marquee pjs are much easier to setup and dial in.

Raster wrap may require a scaler to get rid of. You could try using the picture shift on the Extron combines with the projectors adjustments. Maybe you can get out the "wrap zone".
Did you zero all the settings before starting your setup?

Yes. Everything was zeroed. I'll see about getting the Rock Pro in the chain.

Zolzar, I suggest for the first time leave the signal chain as "short as you can.
For setting up a NEC this is the ultimate guide:
http://www.curtpalme.com/NECPG_MechSetup1.shtm
Read this through carefully.
Once you learn all controls of the NEC you won't think it is hard to set up, it has much more adjustment than the marquee that's for sure, but you'll see it really worth the struggle.
Lens spacers are depending on screen size not on mounting, switching from ceiling to floor mounting you need to reverse all deflection yoke connector, and don't forget to flip up the deflection board and reverse all convergence connectors under the deflection board too.
Jeremy, the deflection board in NEC PGs are very vulnerable, they tend to run really hot over 60kHz scan frequency, so adding fans to the deflection board's heatsink is a good idea, but at higher horizontal frequencies especially with wide raster it will certainly die soon.

First thing I did was flip the deflection yokes. I did study the NEC setup guide as well and things are moving right along. I still can't figure out why I'm running out of pincushion adjustment. Not sure what I am missing.

You said you flipped the deflection yokes, but did you flip the convergence yokes as well, as I said?
You should post a picture of a cross-coarse pattern with zeroed settings.

Uh oh!!!! My frustrations are getting the best if me and I'm obviously missing critical info. No. I did not flip the convergence yokes. I should have noticed this as all controls were reversed. Ill get a pic up when I have a chance. Thanks for your assistance.

No worries I am sure this has happened with all NEC owners at least once
Flip up the deflection board and you'll find the convergence amp board between the red and green tube, it also has blue/red and brown/yellow wired plugs, which all need to be altered, after that your convergence-ability will be right.

HAHAHA! I completely overlooked that very same issue too, the first time playing with my PG.
Well congrats, hope it will serve you good

I'll get some pics when I have a chance. Maybe tomorrow.
My next step is to spend a day soon doing a full bottom to top setup including grayscale calibration. Most likely next weekend based on my schedule. I am looking forward to enjoying a day calibrating this machine. The many hours I invested in calibrating the 8500 were well worth in the end. The picture was stunning. If the rumors about this being a razor sharp pj are true I'm in for a very rewarding Saturday!

One other thing.... This pj had been sitting for a few years. When I fired it up the HV supply was squealing, sort of like the electrons were having a hard time getting through to the tubes. It has since subsided. Is this something I should be concerned with?

These machines are getting old, and unfortunately the capacitors that NEC used at that time are now getting to leak, so better to look under some cap's skirt
I know two minty PG9000s (which is exactly the same as the PG10000, but uses smaller tubes) with only 440 and 750hrs in them and most of the caps already begun to leak, so I had to change about 200 caps in the two machine to ensure the safe operation, and even with this yesterday when I tried to fire up one of the them the HVPS blown up...
