Different if you take into account adding 3d... And I would like to try constant height too.
I have a 15 day trial period and can return it if I put less than 5 hrs on the pj (do digitalis last that long?  ) so in the end I ill see if the grass is "greyer" on the other side. Perhaps a modern day prodigal son parable is unfolding.

yup, it's going to cost a lot to give yourself headaches with a CRT , otherwise inherently the most eye strain free to watch a movie.

CIH is the only really good reason to go to a lamp machine IMO, especially if you go with motorized masking for 16:9 and 4:3.

I would say CIH, brightness, & 3d. I personally am only marginally intrigued with 3d but as of yet have not seen any. My viewpoint may change, and maybe sooner rather than later.

I don't think everyone is down on CIW. I think it comes down to a multitude of reasons. For me I wanted a bigger screen and had no more height without a major reno. I also wanted to watch movies the way the director intended, the epic movies on the larger screen.
I developed a small Glycol leak on my red tube and due to Health issues I have very little energy (been off work for the last year and a half).  It took me 3 days to disassemble and remove the projector from the ceiling and that usually takes a couple of hours tops. I just don't have the energy to redo the bellows and setup etc. again.
I, cough cough have ordered a JVC-RS4810 ...gasp...and hope it will satisfy. I have no illusions about blacks, motion, and reliability but it is what it is. I will continue to drop in here and check out what is going on. I hope there will be some happy people in the US, China, and Canada with improved image quality from the donor.

Rob, while your swapping and modding and doing all that, get a small bottle of brush-on Caig De-oxit, size of a finger-nail polish bottle,with applicator brush . it will be your best asset in re-assembling the machine and insuring reliable operation.
