Hi Everyone,
I was messing with my old laptop, doing some updates and found the HCFR software I installed a long time ago.
I also have the HCFR sensor.
But as I have a Radience XS, I was looking at the EyeOne 3 and ChromaPure with it's auto calibration.
or, Do i get someone to come and do it for me?
What would you do?
Cost is not a problem, so eliminate that.
Looking for good results, not too much effort, or learning curve.
Appreciate you comments.
Cheers
Steve

Why do you like the Calman, over the ChromaPure?
Features?
as they are both Autocalibrate.

I just like it's interface better. it feels more professional etc. but both get the same results maybe an edge to calman. But with the auto cal I think calman gets you there faster and a bit more accurate. Both do need slight touch ups manually if your anal .
The Pro 3 works great but if you find an older i1 Pro spectro you'll want that as well Steve so you can profile the Pro 3 to it. It is a great combo.
The 125 point color calibration looks cool but I haven't tried it yet. So either product that allows that via auto cal.
Chromapure will be less expensive. soo....
And I deal with both Guys and both are excellent people. Never any complaints form me for customer service of either.

I thought Craig said that you shouldn't use autocal with a CRT.

I saw that also somewhere,
also that the 125 point adjustment is also not for CRT, only digital projectors.

I'd agree if using only one CRT. But in a blend or stack I think it help. When calibrating the blend even getting both
PJ's to match primaries and Greyscale when going to say 25% red or 50% red they do not match with both PJ's even though
the main primaries do and no blend zone can be seen. So for ME, i think the 125 point will be a benefit.
So i was thinking for me about the 125 point calibration. But because I noticed the variances in my two PJ's it makes you wonder if a single CRT might not also benefit?
Also I am not a pro calibrator like Craig, so maybe it is my lack of experience to get the base line calibration of the CRT's perfect between the two before i then calibrate with the Lumagens.

Would be great for Craig to pop in, and give his experiences.

Is it better for me to get Craig to do the calibration for me, or buy a ChromaPure package (software and sensor).
Cheers

Most people I talk to who have used multiple calibration software packages tell me ChromaPure is the easiest and most intuitive package to use, and costs them less.
Many of these people also like that ChromaPure never alters their meters or does in enhancements in any way to have them work with only ChromaPure (all enhancements are done through ChromaPure so that the meter remains as a "normal" meter to other software). This is done on purpose as a general policy: You bought the meter, you should be free to use it with any software you like. This leaves your options open. You can try different software (something that may not exist yet) in the future .
ChromaPure has beat out all others and was voted as “Best calibration software” at HomeTheaterHiFi.com two years in a row now (2010 and 2011). It'll be interesting to see what they say in 2012. (Assuming they have another "best of" awards this year).
ChromaPure does not have any yearly maintenance fees. You get support for life.
My Greyscale & Colour Calibration for Dummies guide was based around the ChromaPure workflow as it's very intuitive. It made a lot of sense to me, so I used it in my guide.
Full disclosure: We do of course sell ChromaPure at CurtPalme.com. You can see our discounted price see here: http://www.curtpalme.com/ChromaPure.shtm
We used to also sell others, but don't anymore.

Thanks Kal,
I have looked at the packages, and like what I see.
So do I buy, or get someone to do it for me?
I would expect I could get a good image myself,
but, a calibrator would be able to get even better result just because of their experience.
Cheers

I think you should try play with it yourself, no matter if you get someone else to calibrate it for you.
I know that it would not be possible for me to keep my hands off my setup.. testing new equipment.. And maybe change boards glycol or whatever in my Marquee..
And 2nd. there is no one around Denmark that would know how to calibrate CRT with all this equipment we got, like Moome lumagen.
I'm sure Craig would be able to do a better job than you or me.. But i guess it would be quite expensive to bring him here every time i want to test something new.
And I'm am getting better results every time i play with calibration..
I'm not sure how much time the new auto calibrate will save you, But for sure it cant setup your projector.
I always try to calibrate as good as possible without using the Lumagen. And maybe you even prefer not using the Lumagen CMS.

the 1600usd package with the display 3 looks promising and something i want in the near future.
i wonder what can be gained with the somewhat more expensive package with chromapure professional instead of the standard version.
