thanks guys. keep the feedback coming
HaydnG90 - I am also using a ADA mach2 and I love it until I can afford a mach4. I have the MPA-500 amp connected to it.
I use a Runco 947 and barco 1100 right now and not sure how long I will use CRT (sold my 1209s).
I do not have the 83 but if I am going to spend $500 on a new player I wanted it to play video off of a HD of some sort. I heard the 83 is not that easy to use. Thanks to CIR post I think the 83 would be a better bet as I like to send composite video to the rest of the house which also the 103 does not do. Seems stupid to not have any analog video outs to me.
I have a gen1 moome ext but never got it to work right.
Anyone know if the middle atlantic shelf faceplate would be the same between the 83 and 103?

Do you plan to connect the player through a video processor? Oppo-->VP-->moome--> PJ
Or directly to the moome card? Oppo-->moome-->PJ

I do not use the moome right now.
I connect all of my sources to a switcher. It is a barco RCVDS-05 so really this is a direct connection I guess. My 847 has component direct in so this is not a problem. I do have a transcoder that I have not used in years floating around. I think it is a extron.
The picture quality I get now is surprisingly good for a 7" crt projector. 1080i looks the best to me. With my 1209s I used to have this would not have worked and I used 1080p at various frame rates but that was 5 years ago.

virusc ,
I'll rephrase my question,
How do you control the source signal timing or porch values?
Unless you're using an HTPC or have a VP, the default porches of a source device like the OPPO may not be appropriate for your CRT projector.

Guess we have similar taste in audio gear. My ADA MACH 2 (Select Series) is feeding a MPA-500 too. Picked up the amp real cheap a month ago on Craigslist together with a matching BPA-500 subwoofer amp. The power capacity in the 500 beast is incredible. It takes a good 30 secs for the audio to drop out once its turned off. Build quality of the ADA processor was a revelation. The feel of the knobs and the switching feel are very old skool, but in a good way.

Ha, I have 2 500 base amps as well. Love them. use them for bass shakers though.
I have not had any problem so far with porch issues with 1080i from any device. Do you think this will not be true with the Oppo 83 or 103? I am sure I would if I was running a higher resolution. I was thinking of getting a older Lumagen for this like I used to have but not for awhile.

I can't give an answer regarding the oppo.
What I can tell you is that in my chain including pop110 media streamer --> moome ext2--> BG1209s, I have several porch issues.
For example, the pre defined 1080P@60 & 1080P59 horizontal porches are too small and I can't get the full image to fit the raster.
In 1080P@50 the porches horizontal porches are too large, so I had to use very large raster width values for the image to be wide enough.
A VP in the middle of the chain would sure make my life easier.

You know Tom, I am going to try this. I haven't watched the newest Dexter episode yet...

SO Craig have you tried this yet? I cant stand that the radiance can not down the refresh rate of 1080i@60 or 720p@60 to 1080p@24. If the newer oppos can do it well, Im buying one today. I watched the SD version of Dead men don't ware plaid on SD DVD from the oppo and its Up conversion of 480i to 1080p@24 is awesome!! IF it can do the same for 1080i@60 to 1080p@24 I'll be watching my blend more often for HD 1080i TV.

Nashou, if this does work, are you ready to consider a new home for your two HDQs?
