Got a tweeter from a Boston Acoustic Lynnfield 400L and I need it repaired since I cannot find a replacement anywhere on the net. BA does not support this model any longer either (Since D&M bought them and destroyed the company basically)

The magnet is removable from the rest of the tweeter, making it a fairly servicable tweeter. So if anyone here can do good tweeter repair or knows someone who can, please do let me know.

Thank you Smile

Vancouver Audio Speaker Clinic.

There should be other US based companies that can repair tweeters, but finding a tech that can carefully undo a winding and repair it are far and few between.

Also, if the voice coil is actually burnt, then the tweeter is toast. You can't transplant a new voice coil onto tweeters, at least it's not worth it.

Do some googling, to see who you can find in the US.

After the owner died, who was the genius of that place, are there still competent guys there to do as good a job?

Yep, the original owner back from the 70s took the place over, and all other techs are still there. Good guys.

Jeremy, this place supposedly does decent work according to most of the 'locals'.

Midwest Speaker Repair

Might be worth a shot.

Thank you nash, Curt, & ray for the advise. Though I don't think I will be needing it.

I luckily managed to find a year old listing on ebay for the complete driver set of one tower on ebay for an affordable price, and the guy STILL has them, and we have both agreed on the terms of purchase for them.

At least I now have a spare woofer and midrange should I need them in the future as well. I did not think I would find anything for these beauties, so I am super thrilled.

From the research I have done on these speakers, the Boston Acoustics Lynnfield 400L, and 500L speakers were the highest end speakers ever produced by BA in their history. Spec wise they are their best, price wise, they retailed far beyond any other Boston Acoustic has ever retailed. (Most people can put a complete home theater together for $3600! Shocked )

So again, thank you to all 3 of you, I will keep those sites handy since I seem to have a fair amount of speakers that need TLC around here O_o

Also, as I promised in another thread related to these, I am going to post some pics of the massive & fried crossover from the subject tower.
