Hi guys

Just joined and this is my first post so let me start from the start.

First I got a sony VPH-1031QM for free but it had a GA power supply problem. the problem was the custom sony chips where dead so it got chucked, But the seed of CRT projectors had been planted!

So i got a Barco data 600, i know this unit is old but oh well. so the first problem was fungus and thanks to posts here its all gone .

Now i have set the internal grid to 15.6khz and spent hours lining it up and got it looking good , But when i plugged in my wii, PS1 or old DVD player directly into "video" on the back of the unit there is a bad shimmer on all colors.
On the screen this is very visible on reds and yellows but not really on whites.
The shimmer is hard to explain so i could upload a photo. any help with this problem would be tops

When the internal grid is on or when i go from VGA to RGB + Sync there is no shimmer.

Thanks guys

I'd get a line doubler and run that ito the RGBs input. A composite video signal is the worst signal you can feed into the unit, and I've thrown out all of my Barco 600 parts last year, since i hadn't had any inquiries in years, sorry!

You bet, but only for an HDMI signal source. It won't convert an analog video signal to RGBHV.

Any line doubler. That will upscale the 480i signal to 480p, and will look much better. Dirt cheap would be a DVDO line doubler from me for $25, and a VGA to 5 BNC for another $25, or check eBay for line doublers or scalers, whatever you prefer.

Cheers!

Yes, but the DVDO puts out negative sync. NOt sure on some of the other scalers though.

The video cables you used to connect to the 600 can sometimes do that. You know that the Data 600 will barely handle 800x600 (progressive), right? Some of them won't even do that. Let me know where you are and we can talk about getting you a Barco 800... (1280x1024p and 1080i.)
