Hi

For some time now I have had some verticle bands of of variation of brightnes on the far lft edge of the image of my 9500LC. ANY IDEAS WHY? I run the horz sizeabout 88% to max raster usage. And its a floor mount setup.

Thx

Hello

That is called ringing, and there are multiple posts here how to minimize it with porch timing adjustments if available in your sources. Otherwise, the -08 HDM is the answer.

That my friend is called Ringing. It happens with very high frequencies like HD. What causes it is the Electron beam does not have enough time to "settle" down before it begins drawing the image as it comes out the blanking portion of the video image or also called the back porch.

Why does this only happen with HD sources? Well HD sources have higher frequency which shorten the porch areas of the entire image.
To fix this you can lower the 1080p@60 hz to 1080p@48 but this can cause flicker which some are very bothered by it. Or you can add
more front and back porch tot he image with a VP or HTPC if that is how you have your sources set up.

here is a good read on the Building blocks of a video format

Hey Tim,

Is that the HDM that was made for Boeing? I understand that Boeing had an HDM specifically designed for their simulators that wouldn't display raster ringing but they are rather pricey.

Regards,

Justin

I've got one here right now out of a simulator. FRom what I can see they extend the bottom module connector and put a massive metal box around the HDM, only the deflection leads stick out the top. There's a small fan under the heatsink and an air opening at the top, but everything else is sealed.

Pics please!! Very Happy

I have always wanted to add EMI shielding on the HDM after putting a scope probe near it , it goes all crazy!

Thanx for volunteering that Nashou. Since I posted on the forum having experienced the same scenario as is iterated in this thread, I've been trying to investigate what alternatives exist to resolving it other than a video processor. Despite the 08-HDM you have, any ideas as to why the projector is still ringing then?
