A friend of mine has gifted me a Cine 7 (R9002382 - March 2000).
HD145 color corrected lenses, tubes mint condition.

The projector had no quadrupler.

I put a working quadrupler from working BG808 (should be compatible).

The projector power on but tubes not lit and I noticed several red leds lit.
I can hear some ticking.

Diagnosis display (front) red leds are
"Hold down HD"
"SF"

In the controller board
"CYCLES" red led pulses
"ERROR" red led lit

In the deflection board
Unique red led present lit.

Cine 7 (R9002382 - March 2000) should have R7622091 quad.
However I hear ticking from SMPS/EHT board (R7627675).

Hi,

That ticking sound is almost identical to the one a switch-mode power supply makes when it tries to power on but can't because there is a short on one of the outputs (sequence: Power up -> current overload due to short -> protection kicks in -> shut off -> next try, go to sequence beginning). The same sound can be heard too at TV sets when there is a short in the H-Deflection circuit or in the quadrupler.

My first check would be measuring all supply lines (those from the power supply and voltages generated somewhere else, if that applies to this model). If one voltage is dead I would measure the resistance to ground on this rail (PJ disconnected from mains!). If there was a short I would analyze the schematics and test all components connected to this rail, starting with power transistors (or MOSFETs), diodes, capacitors.
But...this would be my approach.
If You're not experienced in this kind of procedures You shouldn't try any repair on component level. I have seen several equipment which had been "prepared for the dumpster" due to attempted repair. I'm sure one of the Pro's will shortly kick in and give recommendations on specific boards which could cause this...

Regards,
barclay66

P.S.: Just took a look at the board layout (Curt's layout guide on this site is excellent!). At first sight I would see the SMPS/HV board including the quad and/or the Deflection board as the most probable culprits.

Thank you Barclay66
I also think it's a problem with the SMPS/EHT board.
The quad is surely good because I've temporarily removed from a fully working BG808.

I would try to make it work without spending much money.
I think it's a good projector capable of giving still a lot of satisfactions.
The tubes seems absolutely new and the lenses are famous for highly sharpness and quality.

But if I not be able to repair it. I'll sell it to spare parts.

Hi,

You're welcome. I hope You get it back to work. I too think it's a nice PJ, especially for its compact size...

The key to this problem is the SF light. The hold down LED will come on if the set goes into scan fail mode. This isn't an HV issue. ON the deflection board, there are two LEDs. ONe is near the blue/red yoke connectors, the other is near the yellow/green connectors. Which one is on?

The first one (blue/red yoke connectors).

I had not seen before the other led, which remains always off.

OK, the problem boards could be:

-deflection board
-yellow coil board over the CPU controller board
-RGB input board
-power supply.

You can send any of those in to be tested, otherwise you need a service tech locally to try and repair them.

Thank you Curt
I will think about what to do.
If I lived not so far away I would not had any doubts.

If all the green lights on the power supply are on, I'd suspect that one last. The deflection board and RGB board are most likely the issue. Should be about $100 to ship them to me, and $65 to ship back.

Well

I just bought two boards

Input board and focus board

First of all I swapped input board and something happened.

Now there aren't red lights on in deflection boards.
Now there aren't red lights on in the controller (except the led named "cycles" that pulse)
Now don't goes in stand by mode.
Now there isn't ticking from somewhere.
The diagnose green leds are all on
The diagnose red leds are all off
The orange led named "coinc" is on
The filaments are bright.

Unfortunately no light from tubes.

When power off the projector appear a quickly circular spot only from blue tube.

After 2 hours of testing I notice some issues.

No regulation geometrical possible (bow, keystone and others).
Perhaps it's a bad deflection board?

A random quick tick seem to shut down projector for a fraction of second, perhaps there's a arc?

I've mounted board R762450 that's different than factory Cine7/708

Cine7 should to have R7624505

There isn't visible difference between two boards Rolling Eyes
They seems identical!

I tried to set horizontal shift by trimmers present but nothing happened.
Perhaps the board might be no fully compatible.

I found a bad resistor (SR1) in the convergence output board.
I replaced with another with the same value, but I have not solved the problem.
Maybe something else has failed.
Any suggestions?

hey im a complete newb here and if i should shut up please let me know... but....i noticed there is a chip (i think on the delection board) that reads "Cine 7 V XX Mine says 1.0 Im guessing that this is where the crt's software sleeps... would it help to take the one from the donor machine too incase the software cant control the diferent focus board????? seriously just a thought im really new to these i dont want you blowing sh*t up and blaming me Smile

These chip is an eprom with firmware, is correct.
The board is the controller, not deflection board.

However, I think that this projector has been a big shock.
Too many failures contemporaries.
I think it is not economically viable to repair.
Now I should spend some more for a convergence output board.

I'm planning to disassemble it and sell the parts Confused

I've changed two bad resistor (SR1 and SR2) in convergence output board.

FIXED!!!!!!!! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Now the projector have two issue.

Probably arc randomly, i think be the splitter Evil or Very Mad

The remote control not work, also connect via wire, but I use a 808 model.
Perhaps isn't compatible.
