Make a Barco 1208s/2 to look as good as a 1209 non s? Or just even close to it?
I want to hear your thoughts of this and also you thoughts on a 8500 Marquee Vs. Barco 1208s series.

Pretty close, but 1209 will be bit sharper, brighter and have less halo (-> better contrast) because of LC optics.
Primary colors are bit off in both as stock units.

These are very close, unless Marquee is LC version.

Haloing will not be an issue since he's going to HD-145's.

My HD-145 is haloing, not as much as my HD-6 but still annoying.

The difference in contrast (both perceived and real ANSI) between AC and LC is huge. Huge.

I couldn't believe the difference in "pop" the image had going from a Sony 12xx AC with sh*tty HD-8's to a G70. Besides the jump in sharpness, the contrast was responsible for the really big jump in image quality. Simply no comparison between the two.

In that way, no AC machine - no matter how good/big it is will ever look like a modern LC machine.

Did you look with your eyes open? There isnt much difference ( if any ) between the HD145s and other AC lenses with respect to the halo, as ultimately sharp as they are, they dont stop the halo.

So basically what you are saying is that an 8'' set could look as good as a 9'' set with the proper mods and making it LC. How come LC makes such a ''big'' difference in PQ other than contrast? I thought most of the PQ improvements (Sharper image, better resolving capabilities etc.) from an 8'' to a 9'' was the larger tubes. Not even mentioning the horrible HD-8 Lenses, I mean those are just horrible. I though personally that my Runco 947 looked better in 720p with hd-145 lenses than my 1208s2 at 1080p with the HD-8's. So Lenses make a big difference as-well for what I've seen( I am a newbie anyways). I could only imagine how good the Barco will look when I am done putting those on.

Yes, also there are barco retrographics LC tanks with 8" high resolution tubes, with or without scheimpflug adjustments.

I thought it's apparent that 9" chambers needs 9" tubes, an 1208 can be upgraded to 1209, I think.
