I looked at my friend's Marquee 9000, and found one strange problem, not a major one, but annoying.
So the problem is only with the blue tube, the electronic "focus" option has some strange effect on blue brightness consistency, moreover it is varying with focus adjustment.
It is really hard to explain what is happening so I made some draws.
So look at picture "no1" let's imagine the black background is the 'full white' test pattern on the blue tube, while the grey oval lines are moticeably darker than the other part of the tubeface. It looks like a wear pattern, but this can be moved.
Adjusting more the focus, we get the "no2" picture, the oval darker 'things' got bigger. Adjusting more and more the focus the two oval lines are touching themselfs so they look like in "no3" picture. With very low focus level we can eliminate the darker areas, but then it's very unfocused. I guess this is some kind of interference, but how to fix it?

FIX: fine alignment of the focus coil made the problem almost completely disappear.

Hello

Blue always does that; blue is darkest when it is focussed the best. It is in the phosphor and the tube, and likely only another tube will work better.

Yeah, but the problem is not simply that the blue is not bright enough, more like some portion of the blue is noticeably darker than the other, and looks like a burn-in when all colours are applied, but if I set the focus the darker area moves. I don't think it's normal, also no visible wear on blue.

For giggles I would. I have had calibrators tell me the contrast modulation gives them fits.
