I had the projector running for a while, and when I went to turn it off (because for some reason while I was using it the blacks got rather blue), and when I turned it back on about 15 seconds later, the color was back to normal, but now the entire alignment of the picture has pincushioned.

What would be the cause of this? I suspect its probably due to aging. I use the projector for about 6 hours a day, almost every day, since I retubed it about a year ago.

I would like to update and say that this issue has resolved itself by turning the projector off again and then back on. Not the first time I've had an issue with the PJ locking onto a signal (which there is only one to lock onto).

Also the color issue I have mentioned before, curt suggested it may be the neck boards but I have not had a chance to rip the PJ apart to swap them around.

I can say that the screen got really blue when I tried to adjust the horizontal blanking. vertically it didn't do this. It makes sense though that I would have the only XG that is possessed and has a mind of its own Very Happy

good thing you sorted this out.
I found that when my PG won't lock to signal, selecting the same input again and again (in my case input 2,RGB) eventually gets the right memory block after a few tries.
oh well, if I need to get out of bed in the morning it usually takes a few tries too Wink

Press KELVIN next time and see if it goes away. If its all pincusion, just manually select an input.

Fuchs, yours probably needs to warm up for a while before itll grab a signal correctly, check the capacitors on the DEF board, some are probably leaking. PGs are bad for it, and you really should check them all.

At first glance (exterior check) I can't find any. You're probably still right, though. There could be mashed potatos inside, but I'm not sure how to check that or what kind of equipment is needed.

I've read somewhere that the same problem (not matching signal <-> memory blocks) can also result from someone just screwing around (literally) on other boards. In that case the problem would be solved by a tune-up of all the boards.

As I have no clue what happened to the PJ before I got it (and considering the fact that it has various fan-mods), I'm actually sort of hoping to get more insight in the cause before attempting any assumed improvements. For all I know, the PJ could be working in a status-quo , resulting from various combined misalignments Smile

Youd wanna f***en hope not... Laughing

Its easy to know, if the capacitor is quite little and looks to be the original one, replace it, cause if its not leaking yet, it will be soon.
