My Runco DTV-947 CRT projector suddenly went very dim. I tried bypassing the Runco VFD-4402 processor - no change. I went direct from a lexicon RT-10 DVD plyr and also no change. Tried the 12C diagnostics - result "No Error" Also tried the "Eye-Q" diagnostics - also everything fine. It only has 1691 hours on it - but was purchased in 2003 and has been sitting - inside in air conditioned and heated space until this spring when I started running it. It had 1300 hours or so when I started running it and after doing some alignments and setting up the "Eye-q" system, it was really displaying a great pic. Great colours and good image. Then one day(last Friday-31 Aug) I turn it on and very dim!! Finally had to push the brightness and contrast to 90 to see what I was doing.
I also tried the Eye-q Autopicture and all it did was screw it up showing me that there was apparently No Reference available to copy from! Any suggestions? I am gong to hook everything back up and see if I switch from source to source if it will pick a memory that I have already set up! Can't think or find anything else to do.

TV/Projector: All of them!

My guess is that your focus/G2 board or block is bad. It can also be a problem in the power supply. There's no way of knowing without swapping boards or testing yours. Shoot me an email to curtpalme at shaw.ca if you want to pull them out and send them to me for testing and repair.

Cheers!

the 947 is just a Barco 700 series. I have parts here left over from one including the Focus board. It's all free if you cover the shipping. Might be easier to have Curt test and repair any and all suspect boards though.

Also, make sure your video chain is not at fault. Disconnect any and all external sources and test the PJ with it's internal signals and test patterns. IF those are normal then the problem might not be wit hthe PJ
