Have 2 sony recievers that need repair. Both have no sound to speakers. They are newer models with 5.1 surround.

Do they have HDMI switching? If so, they might be worth a look. If not, frankly it's not worth it. I sell non HDMI 5.1 receivers for $50 on CL locally, and sometimes they sit here for weeks before they sell.

Almost every modern Sony Receiver I have seen has blown the amp or just plain cooked itself.
Sony has become so cheap (in quality) that repair is just NOT worth it.
I'd REALLY consider another brand.

You can really say this about almost any brand out there now a days. Pick a name and put it in the blank. If the customer wants to pay for the repair then it is worth it. It's just a matter of preference.
