My Barco 1208 (with P16 tubes and Eisemann DVI mod) is emitting an ocassional pop sound while viewing, with loss of image for about 3 seconds, then returns with full recovery of image. Is this a Quad-going-bad? In the past, I have had this occasional pop with no image loss and a total card reseat seemed to fix it. Any suggestions? ( I do have a digital sitting on top of this beast for 3D, so maybe it's a social issue)
Thanks,
John

No, this is usually one of the HV leads arcing. Keep in mind that each time it pops, you stand the chance of nuking the projector. New HV leads are $25 each incl shipping. I'd replace all three. The tubes have to come out though to do it properly.

Ok, still asking newbie Qs: what is a quad? I've seen it discussed often with HV issues, typically at the same time as the distribution block or HV leads. On my ECP, the HV lead from the HVPS goes directly into the distribution block with the one input and three outputs (one per tube), so not sure what this is. I searched around on here for an explanation, revisited the FAQs/advanced procedures, etc. I'm thinking back to the G90 I tore apart and can't recall if there was an intermediate block...
thanks!
Matt

Technically every projector has one, but with the E'homes, the HV drive section (electronics) and the HV quadrupler (quad) are all in one box. Barco separates them into two pieces, so you don't need to buy new electronics when the quadrupler fails.
Not that it matters, whether it's a Spellman or a Barco HV section, both are hellishly expensive from the manufacturer.
In the G90, the quads were under the blue and red tubes, under the lenses actually. the G90 had two, and so far I've never had one fail.

Curt,
I am now pulling the neck cards to see if I can see the HV arc within the set (to be tube-safe). Do I just let the box hang with the the other connections intact?
