TV/Projector: All of them!

OK, here's one that I don't think we've ever talked about. The memory battery of the Sony G70.

It uses a chip similar to a Dallas chip, part number M48Z128Y-120. I googled it, found a couple of -70s on eBay, my standard supply places have nothing.

Can this chip cross over to a 'standard' Dallas chip? I did find a site that supposedly had cross references, but the page wouldn't load.

Thanks!

Hi,

The last numbers indicate the chip's access time. -120 is 120 nanoseconds and -70 is 70 nanoseconds. You can use the replacement as it is faster than the original. When replacing memory chips You only should make sure it's not slower...

And:

Check the datecodes on the ones from ebay. You shouldn't use any which are older than two years...

Me again,

I did further research. Maxim's DS1245 is a suitable replacement. Mouser has several variants in stock. Look for the same case type and access times of 120 nanoseconds or lower. The DS1245AB-120 should be a drop-in replacement...
