I am a technology teacher at a private high school in Dayton, OH. A lady just donated a Sony VPH-50q to our video production group. I am trying to find out how many hours are on the tubes and how to get everything aligned to see if it's something I can use without dumping a grand into it. I have read over the manual but can't find anything on how to get to the service menu plus it's difficult finding information about it online.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and save me hours of online research!

Do you have the wireless remote? If not, there's not much you can do with the set.

You need the RM-PJ1000 remote. There's a couple for sale here: http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=343303#343303

If you have that remote all ready you'll need to get into service man mode to do the alignment.
