Sadly my grandfather and my dad's dad passed away. He was an inspiration to both of us. Besides the love of family, he also loved singing and painting, which he made his profession for over 50 years. He was a Brooklyn boy who loved to travel, meet people and teach all who were interested in learning.
My Grandfather led a happy life doing what we wanted and with the woman that he loved for 70 years by his side. He had family and friends who loved him and whom he loved back. His last meal was one of his favorites, vanilla Haagen-dazs ice cream. I don't think he could have planned it better.
His paintings can be viewed on the Grado website, just click the button Angelo's paintings.

Nash, count yourself lucky to have had him this long. I bare had the opportunity to know [briefly] half my grandparents before they passed away, and even at that some 30 years ago. Its nice there is a living legacy to remember him by.

I never got to meet my grandfather, he died before I was born, and as for my moms side, its probaby best I dont meet anyone on that side of the famiy.
Sorry for your loss Nash, that has got to be tough:( You have my regards.
Also, im curious, is the Grado name any relation to the cartridge manufacturer for turntables? Couldn't have had a better last name either way!!

OK, pardon my ignorance here, and of course, no disrespect intended, but Nash, was that your grandfather, or are you simply posting the passing of Angelo Grado as posted by his grandson on Facebook?
I would guess that his company is indeed the Grado cartridges, right? Regardless, sad news!

and after rereading nash's post, it appears that its not nashs grandfather, it is Joe Grado of Grado labs, which would make 100% sense, so therefore it has to be nashs grandfather
In all seriousness, its too bad that he passed away, I've ony heard one Grado cartridge, but at least I got to hear it on my turntable for a few days before it went to the owner who bought it, they are really nice cartridges for the money

Thanks, I figured I'd get that cleared up before the thread went on too long.

I still have one of Joe's old cartridges. As I recall, most of his cartridges were moving-iron type but he did make at least one moving coil.
