Smashing them.... What will that achieve? F*** all... I bet youll feel great about pointlessly destroying a perfectly good top end projector too!!

This shouldnt have even been hard to fix.

You say this:

Boy you got me there!
Between working on it under Curt's lead and watching a few movies with the side of the screen out of focus I put on about 10 hrs. In the case of a high end projector, a screen image that cannot be focused is "not working". I stated the 10hrs incase someone was interested in the hours I put on it since getting it from Curt.
I hope you are not a lawer by profession.
If everyone believes that this is such a great set and easily fixed then I should have many people willing to give me half of what I payed and get all the spare stuff on top.

I am willing to drive the 18 hours to pick them up and take them off your hands if you're just gonna smash em.

This is a good point. Talk is cheap, ain't it?

Don't sweat the comments. You just rubbed a few people the wrong way with the "projector smashing party" comment. There are some die-hard CRT'ers here, and they love these machines, but the harsh reality is that many paid next to nothing for their sets, and still wouldn't pay much to buy even a good working set, let alone a set with issues.

That said, there is still some demand for 9" sets, so they still have some value. You'll get it sold.

AS I said, I don't remember the customer or the set, but if I did sell this for $5K a couple of years ago, the tubes should be new or mint, so the set is indeed worth something...

Curt if you sold this man the set for that price i have no doubt its worth exactly what you sold it for.

Crabb and OP, im not saying it it should be satisfactory as it is, im AM saying it shouldnt be hard to fix, and considering there doesnt seem to be a huge effort gone into it. There is still a few items mensioned here that i see no indication its even been looked at.

I think the smashing comment is pathetic, but that's just me. Loads of people out there less fortunate than you or I would love the chance to have something like that, smashing it would be a stupid and selfish act.

EDIT: i will GLADLY take the 9" off your hands for $3,000 USD Shipped. I want to see pics and tube faces first.

There is likely something wrong that is very easily fixed, and $3,000 USD shipped to my door is a fair price if the tubes and condition are good. If the tubes show wear or the case has damage, the offer is invalid. He says he has done 10 hours, so it should be mint shouldn't it?

Id have to side with case on this, In australia I would have a hard time beleiving Projectors (much less good projectors) are readily available there. if Case wants to spend that money, then I say go for it! Besides, instead of everyone trying to get him to keep them, someone should just go get them, or do like case and make an offer. If ya don't want to do either, then there shouldn't be complaining of what the guy does with his projectors.

Yes, I wouldn't be too happy about his decision, but its not mine to make. Besides, I am sure there are things that get smashed up or thrown away that we would all freak to hear about (I often think about the stories of all the vintage pioneer equipment being thrown into landfills because people thought digital was better in the 80s)

It hurts to hear reality sometimes Sad
