After a long break, im back playing with the Marquee, and like most of żou know i bought a 9500 ULTRA with HD10E lenses and a PT 22 green tube.

After some start up problems, finding out the PT22 tube is not ideal for normal 2d use, and a bit of smoke comming out of the convergence board, i have decided that i need a test machine.

So tonight im going to pickup a 8500AC ultra without the ultra focus board, it have the latest moome HDMI Card, and is running.
3300 hours on the tubes, and around 800 hour standby, at least what it say, im not sure its the original controle board.

Also comes with a DVDO VP30 and a HDfury2.

It looks like a mixed marquee from someone with leftovers he dident need, but it will do fine for testing my repaired boards, so hopfully no more smoke out of my ultra or my non ultra Vidikron.

Ill post some pics of it tonight when im back.

Back home with my first AC CRT.

Just cleaned it a bit.. it was dusty.

Looks like all the tubes can be used.

Hello Kurt,

Looks like You will be needing an Ultra Focus board (FGM)...

Regards,
barclay66

P.S.: Too bad that so many sellers don't really know what an Ultra is really made of.

Ill just use this machine to test boards, so its not important, its made of leftovers, the chassis and CLM dont have same serial nr.

and it all looks a bit messy, but it runs and ill not cry for 14 days if the tubes get burned.

Most important there is a V3 moome Card.

Anyone know when the tilt option on top and bottom in the geometry is addet..? its in the 5.0 and not in the 4.2.

I think you need the FGM for that.

Guys

The Ultra evolved when Ehome decided it had too many variations on the Marquee chassis. They had a High Scan 152khz option, a Dome option, and the standard Marquee, so they decided it was simpler to build one machine with every feature. The geometry stuff was supported in firmware starting with v4.0. VDC carried development a bit further with v6.0 and v8, adding Sub Brite for red and blue, and some other things.

.

V5.0 have the Sub brite,

The reason im asking is that i would like to have the option of side stacking 2 Ultra machines in my new HT, or at least make a test setup.

Is there no one here making firmware chips.?

I do need a FGM, but it wont help much without the tilt option in the firmware.

Just finished cleaning the tubes and lenses, putting the ground strap on the convergence board, and changing R 704 804 and 904 on the vertical board.

So tonight ill se how a 8500AC compares to a 9500LC

Im exited.

Hello Curt,

The menus and options are dynamic on the Marquee. They only show up if You have the required boards mounted. Main trigger is the Ultra FGM board. So, even software versions below V5.0 may be 'ultra capable' but You won't see it unless the CLM recognizes the presence of the corresponding boards...
