Has anyone with one of these old projectors seen this happen? I'm trying to narrow down the possible causes. Here is the skinny.
After a year of not being used i decided to remodel the room the projector was in and added a 25 Foot AudioQuest 3 HDMI cable. The Mome IFB card seemed to be just the ticket to renew the PJs life. I bought the HDMI board and was able to get it installed and working with 1080i from my Oppo BD and all was good. About an hour and a half into a movie the image suddenly changed where everything was mostly red/pink and green. In the service mode the projector colors are fine. The guns appear to work. I have a Classe SSP800 that i can preview the image from the player and the colors look right.
I contacted Moome and explained to him what I was experiencing. He had me power down then power up the projector, which had no affect and also to hit 4 on the remote. I don't know what 4 does but i can't get the remote to do anything. I couldn't get it to adjust the gamma when i first installed the card. I emailed him back to let him know that the sugestion failed to resolve the issue, and also the other things i did to try to get the colors back.
While i am awaiting Moomes reply i was wondering if any knowledible folks on this forum might think that the issue is not the Moome card but the PJ itself. Has anyone seen this when not using a Moome card? I'm hoping it is the card. I don't want to chase down the issue or spend any more money on the Pj. I may reinstall the Faroudja NRS and the RGBHV cable to see if that gets any results. Thats the only way i can think to isolate the input card from any video control done in the projector, if there is any video handled within the projctor, to see if it is the input card or not. Does that make any sense? Or can it only be the input card?
I really don't know how i would get it fixed even if i wanted to unless it is a board swap or something along those lines. And then finding the part...well it seems unlikely. I wanted to get some more mileage out of the Sony and the Moome card was a nice reasonable solution. Any insight greatly appreciated.
Best,
Tim

Just to make sure, feed the PJ with another input signal, video or s-video and see if the problem persist. Easy and fast to check

After emailing Moome he was able to get me back in operation. I was quite impressed with his quick response and follow through. I originally bought the IFB card to get a little more mileage out of the Sony until I could afford to get the digital projector that I wanted, but based on the performance that Moomes card has displayed I could easily keep this projector for a while. It is easily a better performer than the Faroudja NRS I had, although it was setup for 720p. The BDs I've ran throught my Oppo BD83 at 1080i is a much better image than i have ever seen on this PJ. Thanks to the Forum and the community here for the insight and suggestions. Also, Moome rocks! Best money I've spent lately.
