You can definitely swap boards between sets to see which board is bad. I understand your concern about ending up with two nonworking projectors, but we won't let that happen.

Swap the HDM and HVPS between the two sets, in that order. Once you determine what part is bad, then you can decide if you want to fix the second one.

Yeah, I'm pretty good a electronics tinkering but I don't think I want to go spraying Ito the unit at this point. I think for the time being I'll just worry about the one that works. Under the diagnostics on the non working unit I'm not getting any errors. It only flashes under "C" when any button on the remote is pushed. Same as the working unit. Neither flash any errors.

Ok Reseat the LVPS and the HVPS and the HDM( Horizontal Defelction Modual)

If that doesnt do it then you need to clean the chips on the CLM. Basic cleaning of all contacts is the first trouble shooting step IMO.

Mac It was over on AVS, maybe 2006?

I'm still not remembering this so I went and checked. I only have 147 posts over there and my first post was on Jan. 08, 2008, even tho I joined in Nov. 06. I didn't do any posting anywhere until i joined here in Aug. '07.

I just find it hard to believe I discouraged anyone from attempting to learn to repair stuff giving the help i have here to non techs...... Laughing

I remember it was on AVS, i was probing the 390 outs on a LVPS and arched it to the chassis of the PS. Fried the power mosfetts. I wanted to fix it and asked for advice and a bunch of you all came down on me telling me i was going to Kill myself. Wink

Ring a bell? It might have been in later than 2006. I forgot which Marquee i was working on. I can't find the thread.

Or I may just start taking offers for both because I don't know if I'm able to dedicate the time to all this. My wife is already annoid I've taken over her dining room. Any takers?

I'm in the Coachella Valley area. I know some were wondering.

Well I just went through all of my 147 posts over there and no such comments. Your welcome to search them all yourself. Just search my posts.

If I did comment as you say it was not over there. Very Happy Not saying I don't believe you but I'm still surprised I would say that......

Weren't a bunch of archived threads lost over on AVS at some point in the past. Perhaps this is why nothing appears.

All of my 147 posts are in my profile from when I first started posting. So all my comments are there regardless of anything having been lost. I found posting over there being a waste of time.

I finally got some muscle to get these set up on a proper work area. Thought you guys might want to see the two together. I tell you they look bad ass as a duo. I didn't realize the two cases are not the same make though. I know one is an Marquee 8500. Still trying to find what the other model is. The front bottom panels vary where the mic hole is and the pj I'm trying to get working again, the case looks like they had to mofify the screw holes a bit to make it work right. Still looks great though.

Curt if you read this, can you shoot me an email for the NEC unit we talked about? if you still have that is.

Thanks!

oh God, there's like close to 400 pounds on that hobby table. I bet they wouldn't look very "bad-ass" after they crash to the ground and implode the tubes Wink
The broken one is a Vision 1 , AKA 9500LC. The best projector Electrohome ever made.

NO kidding. I see he's right by Palm Springs. I think I'll be stopping at a few goodwill stores to see if I can find any tube McINtosh equipment. Man......
