Hello dvh99. Can you please elaborate more upon what I need to "worry about" here? What is it that you're referring to, and moreover, what are its implications? Thanx

Nothing to worry about. I have had the HDQ;s in my system running 1080p for a few years. even though they say bandwidth limited to 165Mhz for DVI it will still resolve it from my OWN PERSONAL EXPERIANCE. Very Happy

A dvi to HDMI cable will work great.

At Phoenixed, I knew it was coming as well. lol

Hmmmmm, I'm going to take it (tongue and cheek) that there's an inside element at play here..... Nonetheless, if bandwidth is in effect limited to 165 Mhz, what is it in reality for 1080P? I take it much higher? Thanx Smile

It is close to the limit of what they say DVI is but remember it is a Limit for the manufactures to have their DVI equipment handle. So some will go only up to 165 some may go higher. I found a good cable of sufficient size will work. Some i have had did not so get a mid priced DVI to HDMI cable.

Thanx again Athanasios, you've proven to be a cornucopia of information Smile Would it be better to actualy use a cable or an adapter in this instance?

Id go with a BlueJeans DVI to HDMI cable.

Just a quick addition here, anyone have an opinion on a direct insert card for the Marquee that is HDMI capable like to Moome unit? I'd appreciate your feedback Smile

Nash is correct regarding the bandwith. I use a monoprice adapter since I already had a Blue Jeans HDMI and it works fine.

At the end of the day you have a simple choice to make in dealing with problems such as these:

1) Spend a lot of time learning the nuances of your equipment and how the adjustments of the Marquee and VP effect one another in your quest to obtain a satisfactory image.

2) Pay a pro calibrator to do it for you.

Even if you go with option 2 you should spend some time trying to learn the equipment. This way you won't be totally reliant on a third party if you run into a snag.

As a matter of fact jbmeyer13, I have dedicated a considerable amount of time at constantly "tweaking" this projector while learning its nuances. I actually had a fellow drive in from Kingston, Ontario to Montreal to set it up (professionally); I believe that he did a good job. But, that was a while back and I never contended with this Ringing issue since. I almost thought about just leaving it be yet my compulsive tendancy has once again got the better of me. Anthanasios, why is the Moome card a must? Can't I proceed in hooking the scaler up to the projector via the BNC connectors?

I understand the compulsive tendancy; right there with you:-)

The Moome card is necesary to allow an HDMI/DVI signal to be passed through to the Marquee- It de-encrypts the signal aka stripps it. HDMI uses HDCP (High Definition Content Protection) and this signal can not be passed through the analog inputs.

Can't I just hand the signal off to my current HD Fury from the video processor?

Yes, but the Moome cards are better than the Fury.

I pump my marquee with 1080i signal from my ps3 and it goes through my vision hdq gets upscaled to 1080p. The results are awesome.
hmmmmm Confused Not one to pick on anybody's choice of ice cream flavors BBUUTTTT Mr. Green Wink
why would you take the native resolution of a BD disc which is 1080P, use the PS3 to downscale it to 1080i, then use a VP to scale it back up to 1080P? PS3 is just a cheap game console, the less it does to the image the better IMO.
Most of these devices have 1080P pass-through including AV receivers. If your running 1080P then leave it alone except to tweak porches and refresh rates. If your going to downscale, do it at the end of the video chain with your best component, usually the VP.

Drags is right with the 1080i comment. the only reason it would be done drags for HDCP. If you have no moome card or HD fury or a Moome MUX hdcp stripper then i would understand the 1080i to 1080p upscaling in the lumagen. But I use pass through on the Lumagens, and only use the timing adjustments and Greyscale/Gamma/CMS.

I send you a PM with my email draganm - Thanx. Athanasios - I wish I could said that I understood what those scope pictures meant.... But, I'm assuming that it simply outlines that the Moome offers far superior performance than the HD Fury does (mine is only a generation 1 Fury as well.....). I'm almost starting to believe that it would be best just to compromise here and leave it well alone; I don't think I have the resources to comprehensively tackle the issue as effectively as I'd prefer Sad
