|
|
Looking to install my BD708 on the ceiling finally and am trying to figure out what would be the best res to feed it. Source is a Sony BD S350. My options are direct component feed from the Sony BD to the 708, or process it thru my DVP 1000 first.
Obviously the Sony BD will put out 720P or 1080I.
The DVP 1000 will put out 1280X720, 1280X768, 1366X768,1024X768. The rest are resolutions that the 708 probably can't resolve.
Any suggestions on what would be best for the 708 would be appreciated.

1920x1080i @ 60Hz is what id do. Try that and 1280x720p @ 60Hz and see what looks best to you.

I have a Cine 7. 1080i looks better then 720p (to me anyway). The difference is not dramatic, what I think I see is a slightly sharper picture at 1080i.
The only down side to 1080i is that you need to have around 5% overscan whereas 720p you can have almost 0% overscan. I have a PS3 feeding a Fury2 over HDMI.

I don't understand why this is a downside. CRT projectors are all so flexible/adjustable that you can set the image size/scan any way you like to properly fit the raster area/phosphor.
I've never had any problems with all of the CRT projectors I've owned (though I've never owned a Barco 7xx - just a Barco 800 and Cine 8).

Thanks everyone, I think I'll try 1080I straight from the Sony BD first to see how it looks.

Maybe it's just mine that does it, but in 1080i mode the left side of the image wraps around itself a little bit. I can't get rid of it with H phase adjustment. I am stuck with over scanning my screen by 5% to 'make it work'. 720p mode works just fine, I don't need to do the over scan.
Does anyone else with a 70x / Cine 7 model have this problem with 1080i mode?

PS3 <-(hdmi)-> Denon AVR <-(hdmi)-> HD Fury2 <-(RGB)-> Projector

Your raster width is too big. Set that right first then move the image with the raster. The two (raster and active image area) can be moved separately. Move the image within the raster to one side if you have to. I've had to do with with all my Barcos. Though I've never owned a 7xx series.
Image shift with external converters doesn't help CRT projectors since CRT projectors have so many shifting adjustments already.

That they do Kal, however i do use the HD Fury 3 image shift with my 9PG though, as it is a finer adjustment than the projector has.
