Well, as the projector thing took off, I thought to myself that I should get at least one test chassis of each model ever made. I think I accomplished that a few months later. (actually, considering I didn't get a 909 test chassis until last year that I could call my own, it took about 12 years...
But yep, that's really it. Selling parts takes a pile of room, but what I realized as well yesterday as I threw things out, is that I can repair probably 95% of boards that I get in, and am really good at ones that I've worked on 100s of times, so there's really no need to stock a pile of spares of the ones that I can fix. Still, considering that I have about 50 HD8 lenses in stock, I will spend an hour thinning that herd as well. Maybe I can get some of my wine cellar room back. Hahahahah!
But seriously, that basement has made me lots of money. It costs me the same whether it's empty or full, and guaranteed more than one person reading this thread has been saved by my hoarding tendencies.

I got an Idea! You can remove the lenses from the shells and make then into Wine Bottle holders!!!

Actually most of it is due to the fact that I've been hanging onto stuff way too long, but also that I'm buying 9" sets for next to nothing, and need the room. throwing out Sony 1031 parts and ECP parts to make room for BArco 909 and G90 parts makes sense to me!

It's all gone already, the recycler picked it up this morning.
My place is recessed 100' from the road anyways, fences on either side. They see... and know... NOTHING.

Probably not, but I didn't check. I still have 2 working 1031s here that you can have for $50 if you want to drive out.

getting rid of old crap is good for you, both physically and emotionally. Nice to see you did the right thing and recycled it.
Funny we were just talking yesterday, it used to be raw materials dirt cheap and finished product very expensive (remember the $450. VCR). Now the price of finished stuff has dropped like a rock , a BD player costs 50 bucks in 2012 dollars . The cost of metal and plastic though has gone through the roof.
The recycling guy would have had to sort that stuff to maximize it's value but he probably made a couple of hundred bucks and kept it out of the landfill

curt, i thought you had an idea about recycling old electronics, do you still hang on to that idea?
whatever the outcome, you`ll probably be a "roepende in de woestijn" (dutch proverb meaning "someone calling in the desert"... if that makes sense).

Huh..... and I thought you were cleaning out your bedroom.
Well, you saw MY garage.... at least I got just about ALL the crap out of the HOUSE. I scrapped about a ton already. No regrets.
I've also been hanging on to too much crap!
