I know that I'm not very informed on these products, just curious which would be the best choice for driving a 1209s Barco? Currently have a HD Fury 2 and am not real happy with it.

The DVDO iScan VP50 and Lumagen VisionHDQ are video processors.

The HDfury is an HDMI to analog converter.

They are different things. What one does the other does not, and vice versa.

What are you wanting or trying to do? What exactly are you not happy with?

The Fury takes about 5 minutes to quit flickering on startup. The tech that was working on my system indicated some dark vertical bands he thought was coming from the fury?? If I bought one of those processors I still would need a fury?
Thanks

That does not sound normal.

I don't know. Post a picture so that we can see what you mean.

You still need some way to convert HDMI to analog since your projector does not have an HDMI input.

Help what?

Fixing a possibly defective Hdfury? No, buying a video processor won't help that.
Converting HDMI to analog? No, buying a video processor won't help that.
Fixing dark vertical bands on the screen? No, buying a video processor won't help that.

Sorry if I'm being vague, but you're asking vague questions that cannot be answered. There's no "magic box" that you put in your video signal stream to "make everything better". You're looking for a black and while answer.

A video processor can do any number of things to the video signal including:

- parametric greyscale adjustment
- parametric gamma adjustment
- colour management (CMS)
- video switching
- noise reduction
- 3D processing
- scaling and deinterlacing
- aspect ratio control including controlling anamorphic lenses
- detail enhancement
- etc

Some processors do more than others, some do things better than others.

Which video processor you choose depends on exactly what you want to get out of it and what features you're looking for.

If you're in the market for a video processor I frankly wouldn't get either. I'd get a Lumagen Radiance. It's regarded as the best video processor that money can buy and is not expensive for the mini version. The Lumagen VisionHDQ
is no longer available.

You mentioned that may have issues that are caused by a defective HDfury. Adding something else that is not related to the system won't fix that.

What resolution are you running to the 1209 from the PS3? Which port are you using on the Barco? How long is the HDMI cable from the PS3 to the HDfury2?

Have you tried a different display to confirm that the probelm is indeed with the Hdfury and not something else?

I running 1080p out of the PS3. Using port 4 or 5. Using a 25ft cable.

The only thing I can say about using a different source is that for the SuperBowl I moved my At&t U-Verse receiver and drove it using the Fury and the same cable and it was good without the vertical banding. Maybe it's the signal from the Ps3??

It may be the 25 foot cable. Just to confirm it's the HDMI cable that's 25 feet right?

Do you have the power supply cable for the HDFury2?

Just as a test while running the Ps3 at 1080p turn the side switch on the HDFury2 to YUV. This will give you an all green picture but see if the dark banding will go away.

HDFury2 had image shift correction on the YUV/Component output only not the RGBHV.
2 Channel sound output.

HDFury3 has an image shift circuit that is adjustable on the RGBHV output.
7 Channel sound output.
Multiple EDID's and limiting to 1080i support.

Just an update. The flickering went away immediate after hooking up the DVDO. Now my second head on my video card stay active since it is connected to the DVDO. I still have the banding on the left, I believe it is in the PJ.

Needing a little, does anyone know how to fix this issue with the banding on the left? All 3 tubes show this. Video chain is a PS3 to a iScan VP50 to a HD Fury 3 to pj. Had this problem before I added the VP50, and I had a Fury 2.

The only way to fix it is to play with your porch settings. I have the same thing on mine but I honestly don't even notice it when gaming or movie watching.

Inside the VP50. Under format you'll a setting for USER. So first select 1080p-60 then scroll down to USER. This will allow you to setup custom porches and what not. Without the annoyance of holding down the up button to get to 1080p. Also this is the point where the lumagen blows it away.
