I know this subject doesn't matter much...if at all. But after assisting my cousin attain a Ampro 4600 because the old owner thought the exterior to not fit the decor of his basment theater (yeah he said it was a ugly design)....I am wondering what people like and did the looks of the unit play any part in the deciding of the model you chose? And if you could choose, which design would you go with? OK.....I go.....I kinda like the look of this Runco 947. It has a sleek design. Also like the Barco 12X series painted custom colors or black. And not sure who it is but he has a G90 painted black. Looked great! FYI!! I have a VV1....believe it or not, not sure if I like the design as much as others rave about it. Perhaps it will grow on me over time. How about it people?

I really like the look of NEC XGs, however accessing to some boards inside isn't very easy, I do like the stock marquee design at the second place (also very easy to access to all boards), I like the design of my NEC PG too Wink

VV1 is neat and my fav Smile
marquee 8X 9X painted
selecos are also good looking - smooth
nec xg series maybe the most "modern" and high tech
barco 808/909 painted - minimalistic, timeless, good

there's only a couple of really ugly ones...
sony vph 12XX
nex pg
ecp 3X and 4X
and pretty much all the old baseband ones...

Marquees for sure. They look like the Nintendo robots, which makes me smile. Well not entirely true cause that would mean the robots were beheaded which is sad to think of...

Vision 1. However, knowing that someone (not me) has a Cine 9/909 on the ceiling is sexy plenty for me! Razz

I like the sleek, no nonsense, industrial design of the Cine9. Sexeeh!! Knowing its the ultimate in CRT HT performance (at least out of the box) just adds to the appeal.

V1 by far, only none industrial looking case. G90 would be my second favorite but the old school Nintendo paint job is terrible.

Top 4 Sexiest projectors in order from most to least sexiest:

Vidikron Vision 1 (The case that everyone loves and looks awesome in almost any color)

Sony G90 - Who can resist its sleek modern look?

NEC XG - This beast looks like a shark with the way the vent holes are design, a nice "office style" design to it

Barco Cine 9 - Nice simple clean looking projector, great for any room

I never really liked the XG look for some reason. I actually liked the PG better.

I think that Vidikron case is really nice especially when painted and probably the best overall.

I am in the process of repainting a 909, so I will give my opinion later. The G90 right beside it looks like truck in comparison. It might look better when painted though.

I leave the upper case off the G90 for various reasons, which reduces the 'bulkiness' quite a bit.

Flame suit on... I'm going to go against the grain and say the Vision 1 is not even close to the nicest looking. IMHO, the case is really nice, but it's putting very nice lipstick on the pig that is the Marquee. Wink Seriously, the Ehomes are just boxy and homely - like an old Volvo or a VW beetle, but not in a good way. Sorry, Marquee peeps!

So, I'd have to say it's a tie between the G90 and 909 for best looking machine. A 909 in black or even "BarcoReality blue" is very nice! XG and G70 aren't that far behind, but the "computer grey" of all of them definitely puts them at a disadvantage.

Again, I think the long/slender design of nearly everything else (aesthetically) superior to the 'Quee.

All the older stuff is generally pretty ugly, though.

The G90 wears 'lingerie' under that outer layer. The sheet metal inner case keeps her respectable and everyone away from the HV...
