I recently acquired a Sony G 70 which the previous owner had in storage for a year. I was told it was working when taken down. When I plug the projector I get no lights/sounds from it. The standby light does not come on. I checked the cord, the fuse and confirmed that F board was getting power. What other boards need to be checked and if not too difficult to check, how ?
Thanks for your help.

TV/Projector: All of them!

These are tough to repair, as they are what's called switching power supplies. Guaranteed that one of the 4 power supply boards under the cover where the power cord goes in is bad. I can test and repair them for you, they're not components that you'll find off the shelf.

Figure on $150-200 to repair whichever one is bad, and I'll test the rest. Check the AC input board to the far right to see if any traces have bad solder joints, I've had that once, but most likely it's one of the other three boards that's bad.

Thanks for quick reply. I have access to these boards from another machine, I will post when I have tried them out.

Curt was right. The FA FB boards were bad. The projector turns on and something flashes on screen which is too quick to read. Then, the screen goes blank. When I press menu, same thing happens. What needs to be checked next ? Thanks for help.
