I've also had a couple of celebratory drinks with the g/f, and am typing this at the Apple store.

That's exactly correct... Gotta be it.
Now, if he gets the YOU SUCK of the year award, and he's out celebrating, then that means he got them for practically free or something. Can't want to find out what the deal was.
Congrats, Curt. I'll just say it now before we even know what the deal is: YOU SUCK.
SC
PS - What the hell's he doing in Spokane? I didn't think there was anything interesting in Spokane. Boeing is in Seattle, so I thought maybe he was there, but Spokane?

What ever it is it's four times as many as he needs. Three times as many as he can sell. Twice as much as he can afford and a partridge in a pear tree. or

OK, just got back in town.
Let me backtrack about a week for a sec....
A week ago last Friday I went to the mailbox, and like any good businessman I discard the bills and look at the two checks that came in. One was from a planetarium that I was expecting. There was one more check there, from a customer that I recognized, but I hadn't done business with them for 3 years, as they'd gotten rid of their projectors... and I'd bought them all.
Curious, I opened the envelope. In it was a check made out to Sound Solutions.. for.....$52,850.00.
Not sure if I posted about this, but of course I called the customer on Monday AM, and found out that it was supposed to go to a Sound Solutions, but in Alabama. So I mailed it back. A bit sad of course, but there's no way I could keep it.
Now, I'm not a religious guy, but I do believe in karma.
So, back to the projectors. I was told that they were 808 split packs out of a simulator, and having dealt with the simulator surplus sets before, almost all have a horizon line burnt across all tubes, esp the blues and the greens. So I offered them a very low $ amount, because I figured I'd let them throw out the tube packs, and I'd load up the electronics halves only. Based on the lack of response with the NOS split packs I have here, I really only wanted the quadruplers.
So.. LED flashlight in hand, I arrive at the location, see the split packs as expected, except there's 9 of them, not 7 as I thought.
So, I go to bend down to check the wear on the tubes..Wait, what's on the lenses? HFQ900!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Times 9!
Now, given the fact that they've already accepted my low low bid, I COULD have stuck with it, but since I figured the karma gods were looking down upon me, I let them know that they had 909 split packs, and that they were worth significantly more than what I'd originally said.
I then popped open the electronics lids, and saw that no wait, these are 809 split packs. That's a 909 front end (tubes and lenses), but an 808s electronics set, right up to the neck boards.
So... one set had a logo burned into the middle of all tubes. I checked 5 others.. they were milky white, no wear. Supposedly these things were hardly used, save for one that was set up as a movie HT setup. (I didn't check whether it was a DVD logo burned into the tubes, or a flight simulator.
So I made what I thought was a pretty generous offer, good for them, and good for me. I took the burned set with me along with one mint one, and packed the rest up for a trucking company to pick up on Tuesday.
Apparently these things didn't come from Spokane, they came from out of state, and it was just my luck that they ended up within driving distance.
So. anyone that wants a super high end 9" set, consider this: I should have at least 5 of these (3 sets of tubes were buried, so I couldn't check them, and then forgot as I was assisting with the packing, we had limited time to get this done)
What I plan to do with these is twofold:
1) Sell them exactly as they sit. they are split packs, a 6' umbilical cord between the two boxes. Zaphod already is taking one, as he's measured them, and the tube box will fit right between his joists in his basement.
That means I'll have 5-6 left. The one with burnt tubes will be a parts unit, the HFQs will be for sale off it.
2) Pull the tubes and lenses and boards (assuming a very low hour count), and drop everything into 5 or 6 1209s/Runco DTV1100s I have here. Short of the motherboard, the sets will be 1209s models, with LUG tubes and HFQ900 lenses. A step below a Barco 909, but not too far from one. Not as much control as the 909, but... with 909 parts being VERY scarce, you get a high end 9" set with PLENTY of chassis boards available for next to nothing.
Oh, did I mention that they also have the P43 LUGS in them, so they are 3D ready?
My target price (once tested and verified, etc) is about $4500 each. A killer price for a super low hour, minty tube set with the best lenses out there, period.
I'll know more tomorrow once I bench these. Will post pix as well.

Wanna go get the G90 that apparently I also won on eBay while I was gone?
Just goes to show that sets and deals are out there on the weirdest things, at the weirdest times and sets of circumstances.

How loud are those split pack units? Are we talking Cine 9 whisper quiet or 1292 tornado?

Curt
For common aknowledge you could show all parts.
I'm curious like a monkey about neckboards, controller, firmware and others.
I suppose that these units have soft edge boards (SEMU ... which version?) , Contrast modulation boards and other features.
You're the king of us crt lovers .. so you MUST speak!!!!!
Can you consider to sell parts of one unit?
e.g. I would to buy a controller (I think that is the same of 808/808s/cine8 but with different firmware).
Someone can be interested at chassis only (the two parts).
However the exactly name of unit is "Barco Realty 908 split pack - R9040080" (not 809)
Exist the Reality 909 version - R9040040, do you have one or more?

No, these are 809s, the manual even says so!
It's BG808s/Cine 8 electronics and neck boards, and 909 LUG tubes and lenses. It's a strange one for sure.
I'll have to check the firmware revision, but it looks like a stock BG808s to me in the menus. It has the COG board, no contrast modulation. I will do some comparisons next week, but I do have also a new old stock 808s split pack, about 100 original hours on the tubes and chassis. I haven't powered it up yet.

Really strange, yes!
However the neckboards can't be from 808s or Cine 8 (R762721 for Sony 8" or R762746 for Mec 8") because I see that the Lug's tubes (and neckboards) appear in normal position, then their pinouts are surely rotated 180° degrees respect at 8" mec tubes.
I think that neckboards are from 1209s (R762839)
I winner something?
YES! ...... three neckboards for me ... thank you Curt!!!

Me and my friends asking if the frame motherboards of these split packs are the same of the normal projectors.
Because many owners could swap their stuff in these separate boxes.
One of my friend have three reality 909 and would to make a stack system (two projectors).
Two of these split packs could solve many installation problems.
