|
|
Hi all, i have both the HD Fury 3 and the MOOME internal on my XG, i havent compared the two, so i dont know what will be best yet, what sort of difference is there between using the MOOME or using the HD Fury 3 with or without the Gamma X?
The reason i ask is cause i dont have an HDMI cable in my wall, and rather than pull a new cable in or make one from the 7 available CAT5e cables going from the sources to past the projector, if it will look the same going up there from the HD Fury 3 via the 5 runs of RG6 i have carrying my RGB-HV signal up to the projector now, i may as well stay with that.
I was contemplating using an HDMI to DVI adaptor and connecting up some DVI bare sockets to the CAT5e cables if need be...

I don't know the difference between the to converters, but it is matters how long do you run your analog cables with the Fury, keep your analog line as short as possible.

Its about 8 meters. Its also RG6 75 ohm quad shield coax. 5 separate shielded cables. Compression type BNC fittings on the ends.
The length of the run is not so much important as the material and cross sectional area of the conductor

Craig showed some oscillograph photos a year or so ago comparing the HDFuryiii with The Moome, and the Moome had a considerable higher bandwidth.

I can't report on the Moome cards and signals to/from, but I use my HDF3 with good results over a long run. Specifically, the signal train is: HDF3 -> iScanHD -> gammaX -> 50 feet of RGBHV cable.
The cable I ran is probably not as robust as your quad shield, either...it is:

Im not worried about the length of the run, i just want to know which one people think is better and their opinion on why, and how much better it is
Ive had the HD Fury 3 since not long after it came out, and its been brilliant, its connected to the 9PG and will very likely be following that machine into the bedroom to replace the VPH 1001-QM.
