i see now what the problem is.
the front porch as indicated on the lumagen is actually the backporch.
still 482 is much too high and wasted bandwidth.

all series are in 16:9.
besides that, i don`t mind black bars.
and please lower your front porch settings, 56 is more then enough.
i have zero ringing and could lower the front and backporch a bit and still have no ringing.

No, that is still 1.78. Look at my pic here then yours, notice yours still shows
above and below the 2.39:1 line, it shouldn't.
Not sure why the Lumie is still allowing the portion above and below the 2.39 to scan?
I forgot to see what my aspect was set to, what is your at? if its 1.78 change it to 2.35 if its 2.35 change it to 1.78.
that might be it.
Id have to be home to check the rest of the settings. There must be one your missing. I'm still at the diner, be another hour
or so.

For 1080p/60 I only used the factory defaults. I might have been able to get rid of the ringing but I decided to drop to 1080p/48 so I wouldn't have to muck with the porch settings so much. I'll be revisiting that shortly and if I find a setting that works I'll post it.
The picture above is 1920 x 817/72 hz.

I don't have the ringing you do err did, however I can't fully resolve 1080p60 lossing like 2.5% of the image. So I just need to messs with the porch settings. Thanks for your help.

I now have 1080p/48 (1.78/1.85), 800p/72 (2.35/2.40) for Blu-ray dialed in and 1080p/48 for HD cable (might try 1080i/96..). Any thoughts on timing for the following output resolutions for SD DVD;
1) 1440 x 960p/72hz for 1.78/1.85AR
2) 1440 x 720p/72hz for 2.35/2.40AR
I need a starting point for H/V TOT, H/V SYNC and H/V FRN; any thoughts?

What's all this talk about ringing? Is it being introduced by the display or the Lumagen? Is it not a simple matter of transferring one's display timings from Powerstrip (for example) to the Lumagen? I did just that with my Anthem/Sigma VXP and it results in a fine image with nothing I would call "ringing".

1440x810 is 16:9
I run this because it is exactly 3/4 the res of standard 1920x1080 and I figure that would be an easy clean conversion for the proc.

The HDM ringing is an artifact in the PJ resulting from running higher resolutions like 1080p; the beam doesn’t have the time to settle. By adjusting the porch settings, it’s possible to increase the overall size of the raster while keeping the viewable image the same size. This effectively shifts the ringing out of the viewable image.
The ringing was not an issue with DVD’s scaled to a resolution like 1440 x 960p. I ended up letting the BD player output 1080i/1080p for DVD. When using a SD DVD player into the Lumagen the image looked way too soft; regardless of resolution.

Thanks for the explanation.
Why does everyone run 1440x960? Do you then have to reduce vertical height to get the correct AR? If so do you do that in the PJ or VP?

2x480p
You andjust geometry in the projector. If you do it with the VP you won't be running 1140x960 anymore

DVDO processors always ring when they scale because they are pieces of sh*t.
