Very Happy

Sorry, I was in rare form this morning.

If you are talking about raster ringing, the DVDO will not cause that, and could be used to help. If you are talking about ringing when scaling, the DVDO and any other scaler except Lumagen will always ring. Lumagen is the only scaler ever that does not ring. Their scaling was developed in house and has never been matched by any other manufacturer. Lumagen uses "proprietary ring free scaling" Thumbs Up

If I remember correctly Curt told me that the 1209 does need special porches to properly display 1080p. Speaking specifically of the runco 1100. Again if remember correctly. As far as that goes again you may need to play around with them. Try 960p.

Thats is why Even the legacy Lumagen Scalers I like better than even the DVDO Duo. So what if the menu is a pain to navigate, you are not watching menu's. Wink

In my opinion the best way to get 1080p right now on a Front Projection CRT on the cheap is with a Moome Mux-HD to strip the HDCP and then go 1080p@60 or 72 out the HDQ's or HDP's analog outs(RGBHV) You get great Scaling, 11 point Gamma correction, SDI, and 11 point Greyscale, with CMS for Primary colors. I figure 300 and some change for the Mux, an HDQ can be found for 200 and maybe 100 for cable depending on length .

Just my 2cents.

I agree with the DVDO assessment, but I don't see ringing with the Crystalio II or with the new Teranex from black magic.

I had to go to progressive with my Lumagen HDP as it doesn't seem to handle interlaced resolutions all that well.

I have also seen ring free scaling from other Realta HQV chips like in the Denon DVD A1XV.

I agree that DVDO is a sh*tty scaler. But the ABT 102 deinterlacer is better than Lumagen deinterlacing. So i prefer a mix.
