|
|
I have a 9" Marquee I got from Tim a number of years ago that has been controlled (on-off) by IR. I need to switch the method of turning it on and off to an ipad app that will be replacing the existing Pronto.
To make it easy, I just want to use one of several available dry contact relays available to me that the app can control. Surely the 'Quee has an rs-232 connector on it that can accomplish this. If so, can someone give me the pin numbers, etc. to do this?
Thanks,
Bob

Say Bob
RS232 is a format by which a PC can be used to fire commands at the Marquee thru the 9 pin port on the control board; I have not heard of anyone using contact closures to command a Marquee or a PC.

Thanks guys!
While my app can control through rs-232, they don't have a listing for the 'Quee - No surprise!
Perhaps I shouldn't have said rs-232, instead remote control. For example, the NEC projectors have a 15 pin HD-15 port on them that can be used either as a communication link to their switcher, or a third party switcher. I assume the 'Quee has something similar to talk to its switcher, etc.
The service manual for the NEC showed me that shorting pins 14 and 15 will put the projector in control only from an exterior device where the IR no longer has full control of on-off. When I short pin 5 to ground, it turns on the projector. Works fine with my app.
I'll bet there is something very similar on the 'Quee. No?

Bob if your app allows you to add RS 232 codes thats all you'll need. the connection from the Global Cache to the Quee. you can even add control for a specific test pattern etc.
Look in the service manual section I sent you. I haven't done it yet since I use the marquee controller program when doing Calibration on it. I have even done Convergence via the PC.

The app I use is roomieremote. I like it because it is VERY easy to set up and has worked flawlessly for me. One of its few weaknesses is that you cannot add codes to it. While they are very responsive, I really doubt they will add them, but I am going to forward them the file you sent to me and make a request.
In the meantime, is there a place in the 'Quee service manual that describes how they were designed to communicate with the Electrohome switcher?
Thanks,
Bob

Was there a hardwired communication link between the projector(s) and E-Home switchers? If so, what type of connector was used on the projector end?
Thanks,
Bob

Gotcha - My best chance is the D9 and hopefully it contains more than just a comm signal - I'll send a PM to TSE to see if it is possible.
Thanks,
Bob

Say Bob
You might get your contact closure app to close contacts on a wired keypad, I do not know another way to do that.

Yeah the Marquees can be daisy chained together. Thats how I have mine set up. When I do any calibration work I use the Marquee controller program to switch between the two's control functions. Each PJ gets a name or Number. in the program they are listed and you click on the one you want to control. The Switcher gets controlled from the Program as well, the remote can also choose input from the switcher. the CLM send the Switcher the info from either the remote or the RS 232 port.

Thanks. Actually it was the Corio2 you sent me. Looks pretty cool - I have never used it as I always just do it manually.

no I just sent you part of the Marquee service manual with the RS 232 controls. scroll all the way to the last pages. In the beginning it has the CLM PCB layout and parts. After that it has a list of RS 232 codes.
Are you sure your app doesnt support RS 232? I thought i saw it on there the one time I looked at the site.

Yes, and I am using the rs 232 port to control my VP50Pro. Problem is they don't list the Marquee for any type of control - not even ir. They also don't have the NEC listed which is why I use a realy output for it.

But they do have the ability for you, yourself, to add those codes to control the NEC or Marquee. And if you do so you can add them to their data base.
Down load the Development kit and mess around with it LOL ;D
