Mac,

Pins 7 and 24 on CY272 when pressing the power/standby button do short out.

They DO short out mac Razz Now whose not paying attention:P

LOL, I just noticed that just before you posted..... Laughing

Ok then, now we have to test continuity between this board and the digital board on 2 lines. No need to push buttons.

Board 3640-2, CY272 pin 7 and digital board 3644 BB409 pin 7.

Then board 3640-2, CY272 pin 24 and digital board 3644, BB410 pin 10.

Both tests should show short. I have a feeling something will not.

You have 2 options. Try to find out where the no connection is or just run a jumper wire. which would you prefer?

Could we run the jumper wire first to see if it works and then find out where the no connection is? or not? Confused

That would be my suggestion. So run a wire from CY272 pin 7 to BB409, pin 7. Then test at the digital board with your DMM set to diode or continuity when pressing the on/off button between BB409 pin 7 and BB410 pin 10.

Mac Testing continuity between pin 7 on BB409 and pin 10 on BB410 reads a short Smile

Geez, how many problems does this thing have.

Try this. Turn the main switch off and plug it in. Press and hold the "STANDARD" and "HOME THX CINEMA" buttons and then press the main power switch on while holding the buttons and see if the front display flashes. If it flashes then release the 2 buttons. Other wise turn off and post back.

Mac, it does not short out on pin 7 and 10 on BB905

On an additional note, I found the connection that wasnt connected. I connected it, and the short between pin 7 on CY272 and BB409 is back Smile

I did try all the steps thereafter that we had gone through and still no luck yet.

Ok, here's what I need you to do, and be very specific. Connect your DMM neg leed to BB410 pin 10. Make it a good connection that you dont have to hold.

Now receiver unplugged, DMM on diode, pos leed in BB409 pin 7, press on/off button and does your DMM show short only when pressing the button?

Now with these same connection, set DMM to DC, plug in receiver, push main power on but don't push the on/off. Does it read any voltage?

I may not respond until tomorrow. I'll be signing off soon.

Okay, With the DMM Set to diode, neg lead on pin 10 of BB410 and Pos leed on Pin 7 of BB409 the DMM reads 008 only when the button is pressed, otherwise it does not read anything.

With the DMM set to DC on the same pins connected as you described, the voltage reads .38 Vdc without the master switch engaged. With the master switch engaged, the DMM reads 5.35 Vdc

Hope all is to your expectations Smile

Well this is what it should be. So now the question why is it not turning on. Do you know if those slide switches on the digital board are where they are suppose to be? Or is that just where they were when you got it? The manual does not indicate where they should be.

I'll be back tomorrow.
