Could someone please walk me through the procedure to replace a CRT on an Ampro 4600?
Thanks

THere isn't really a writeup, but it's pretty simple on an Ampro. THe tubes come out the front, mounted to the LC housing.

1) Take off the lenses, disconnect all wiring going to the tubes and pull off the CRT socket.
2) Take off the top metal plate over top of the tube LC housings.
3) Undo Allen bolt under the center of each tube that you want to take out.

The tube(s) will slide out the front of the set.

You'll need to cut the tube out from the LC housing if you have a raw bare tube to install. Use an Xacto blade to cut between the tube and the LC frame. Clean off old silicone, apply new silicone, seat new tube in silicone, let it sit for a week, no less before you move it.

Thank you
Do you have a red tube that you could sell me?

Sure, shoot me a PM or email. $100 for a good used LUG tube that's sharper than the LJEs that are in there. For an extra $50, I can mount it into a 4600 housing and put in new glycol. I'd need you to cut your tube out and send me your old housing, I don't need the tube or glycol back.

Thank you,
Are the screws foe the flapping adjustment the same ones that hold the lenses in?
Can I assume that the rings will end up in a similar position so that a photo of the old tube will help me get them back in the right position?

I'll get it apart and send you a cheque for the $150.00 as soon as I can.
Thanks again.

Thanks! Oh, but add $25, that will cover shipping. Here's the address:

Sound SOlutions
344-19567 Fraser Hwy
Surrey BC V3S9A4
Canada

Oh, and yes, take those bolts all the way out, that takes the lens and metal mounting frame right off, exposing the tube and LC hardware.

I was just looking at the rings near the rear of the red tube and trying to relate it to the Barco instructions????????
I see 5 adjustments . I thought I'd take pic as a starting point but a description would be nice as I won't get very far without.
Thanks

The new tube has 4 copper "springs" attached to the frame at the top. There are similar "springs" on the aluminum shield. Can I assume these are just a different vintage and I can lose the ones from the frame?

There's a black wire about 2.5 feet long 2 conductor plug that cones from the horizontal drive board to ???????
I don't see it in the layout pic but it's probably there. Anyone know where it goes ?
Thanks

Anyone got a suggestion where the other end of this wire goes?

I think the other end goes here on theRGB board. Feel free to slap me around for not taking the picture when I was removing it ; at the time it seemed obvious, now not so much. Does this look right for a wire about 2.5 feet long that goes to the horizontal drive board

That looks like 1 of the 3 black wires that go from the RGB board to the neck boards.

Post a bigger picture of the projector. I see you got the pic thing working.

Just waiting for the picture to come from my phone.
The three that go to the neck boards are under my thumb in this shot and connect to the edge of the board in a nice neat little row. There is another connector at the tip of my index finger and that's the one I'm suspecting.
