I recently got a nice music center just for 1$. It wasn't functional though, but optically it is in perfect condition. It turned out later, that only the main rectifier went bad. Back side during the journey we broke the top cover :'(
I really like these kind of amps (I have already two turntable less version), they are singing very nicely too.
I didn't see too much discussion about Bang&Olufsens here, are these as much hated as bose? Razz

I don't think people have an opinion on B&O either way. At least in the states, they aren't as well known. I don't think I have ever known anyone that has owned anything B&O.

My cousin had a Beo Center he got as a graduation present from his family from Pitt law school. It was pretty slick looking and it sounded pretty good too. But i was 12 when he got it so I may been fooled by the "cool" factor! Wink

It's interesting, I saw some beo stuff in various american movies, that's why I thought that they are more common.

I had a Bang&Olufsen Beo Gram 5000 I think, back in the early 90's. It was an automatic turn table with the mm style cartridge. It was pretty cool sounded very good and except for the cartridges costing a fortune it was alright. I sent it in for service and forgot about it and when I went back to get it the shop had closed.

The B&O stuff was rare, like Canton speakers. Good stuff just not well represented in the states.

LOL, because they have a unique cool factor to them. Hollywood is not always in tune with the rest of the states.

The ONLY place I have seen B&O is National Lampoons Christmas Vacation Laughing

My Dad was a big fan of it though I don't know why. He couldn't tell the difference between a $20 radio and a $5000 stereo.
Probably just the looks.

I think of B&O as kind of the Apple of HiFi gear. Cool looking designs that function pretty well. I wonder if Mr Jobs had any B&O gear in his house?

Yes he did, as a matter of fact. See e.g. http://forum.beoworld.org/forums/t/34630.aspx, or just Google "steve jobs B&O" and you'll see a number of references.
