So, I sat down and finally relaxed during this vacation of mine. I popped in the BD of Hanna. I really enjoyed this movie. Left the HT remembers the line, "I just missed your heart."

Ok, now for the more debative aspects of the movie as the video and audio were quite nice and need nothing more from me.

Hanna is the product of gene adulteration in which the goal was to breed future soldiers whereby fear and pity were greatly reduced. Surrogate mothers were snatched from abortion clinics and their embryos modified along a program that resulted in selective productions.

The program was closed when Hanna was two years old and apparently the idea was to dispose of all records, including the children. The movie opens with Hanna's non-father figure training her in survival and killing techniques, and when she is ready to provide a beacon for the program's originator to come and collect the last vestiges of the program.

What I find strange the the position that you can start with any embryo, make said modification, and expect to get the desired traits regardless of genetic starting material. Do I assume that abortion clinics conduct DNA testing before the abortion? Doubtful that happens, but my ignorance can be at play here.

Even still does one expect enough abortive candidates to provide the necessary 'starting' pool of genetic material in which to alter? Remember, they modify the genes to suppress fear and pity, not advance other traits--or at least that wasn't stated or suggested in the film.

I need to go find and see if this is based on a more formal work by Seth Lochhead and see if the desired detail is there. If anything, that is one thing that is missing from the movie. Also, the movie leaves the ending open, which I suppose is the nature of the Hollywood beast.

I can say that the soundtrack certainly added to the theatrical entertainment, and that with the PQ is sufficient to see this film again. Questions seeking answers include 'other children', Hanna's real father, etc.

This was a really good movie. The wife and I really liked it. The "escape" sequence was awesome, and I liked the contrast between the quiet scenes and the action scenes. The main character was a good little actress, too.

Thanks for reminding me about this, too... I want to pick up the soundtrack, because I'm a Chemical Brothers fan, and they composed the entire score. The escape sequence was a like an music video!

Oh, and I wasn't bothered by the genetic aspect. It's a scence fiction movie. If you accept the premise that the character can be genetically altered, I see no reason not to believe that some traits can be enhanced while others are suppressed.

I watched it with some friends...When I said "Oh she is like Khan" I got some wierd looks. Good movie! Cate Blanchett did a great job.
