Hey, does anyone use a "barcode scanner" to inventory their DVDs or CDs?
I have seen stuff like CueCat scanner and such, but wonder if they are worth the money, time and trouble.
Thanks.

I was thinking the same thing.
But what I ended up doing was going to IMDb and let them handle it. I go there anyways to read the reviews on the movies I'm thinking about watching. Then I will rate the movie after I've seen it. If the movie moved me one way or another, I would write a short review. They keep track of pretty much everything if you registrar.

I use super-cool piece of software called Delicious Library on a Mac that scans the UPC code on movies, books, CDs, video games and more all with the built-in webcam in my computer - no additional hardware necessary. You can use a Bluetooth scanner so you don't have to be by the computer, but I just grab a pile, scan them, and return them to the shelf.
I would have to assume there's something similar (even if it's not as polished) on Windows.

Mediaman is available in both flavours, not as polished- but includes a 30 day trial, two computers and lifetime updates.
XBMC has a smartphone barcode scanner available as well.

Apps are available that allow the same data to be used with Torrent and other p2p software.[/url]
