That's what I was talking about
Big companies have a lot going into r&d which is why these beasts was so costly when new

That's true, but some parts of the puzzle are not so terribly difficult to put together.
IF a CRT manufacturer has the pre-molded glassworks for a 12" tube, and they stock the LUG electron guns,
then there is nothing to stop them from putting those guns into the 12" glass and building the tubes.
Single color (monochrome) tubes are surprisingly easy to make. Especially if you get the glassworks delivered to you
pre-molded from a specialty glassworks. Which is actually what all the major tube manufacturers did anyway.
NEG (Nippon Electric Glass) provides (or, provided, if they are no longer making them, which is possible) nearly all the glassworks
for P16 and P19 tube types and that includes the Sony patttern bells. The tube makers, such as Mikado, Panasonic,
Lexel, Thomas, etc. all used NEG glass and (mostly) the same electron guns made by the same OEMs, and used
the same phosphors from the same reliable sources. The actual variance between tubes from different manufactures
(for the same tube type) should be almost none as they're using the same parts to make the same things, but of course
there are some aspects of CRT manufacture that require practice to achieve skill required to make first rate tubes that don't fail
before their life expectancy is up.

True but given most companies are going the cheap route how many would invest into it?
As much as I would love to have a 12 or 13 inch tubed beast it would likely use more electricity then a 9 inch beast(can't say on the picture quality unless it was 4K capible) but it's more of a dream for us then reality

It is that. The idea of mixing LUG electron guns with the 12" form factor does make you think really hard about 4K or even more.
Hey, if we're talking about fantasies, I'd want a projector that had FIVE 12" tubes in it, the extra two would have UV and IR phosphors, and it would display content specially recorded by cameras that have UV and IR sensing channels.
It would display fluorescent colors realistically. You could get a tan from an image of the sun and maybe feel a little heat from the IR, too.

I think I would do a blend setup for 4K if I felt like putting the work into it(plus I have no 4K content so it's a moot point now)
There was a company that made a four gun beast(not sure if it was 8 or 9 inch tubes) that had two green tubes(I can imagine setting it up)
A rig like that would make 3D movies feel like 4D if not 5D if it was made

Sony made a projector with two green tubes. I remember that.

Why two greens? That's the brightest tube. Were they just trying to reduce wear?
Now two blues, that might be interesting. Avoid the need for blue defocus and get a sharper image. 'Course then you probably WOULD want two greens. Not sure how well the red would keep up.

Apparently, yes, it was to make the green last as long as the other colors.
Interestingly, and not surprisingly, in flight simulators, it's the blue that often wears the fastest.

Gary the green and blue tubes see the most use
I know on some of the games I have the blue and green gets used the most
Watch a few episodes of the Hawaii five o on cbs you will see our point
Flight sims do mostly sky so blue will see the most abuse of the three due to that
