Could someone please explain G2 adjustment or point to where it's explained?
Thanks

Hello

G2 is a bias voltage applied in the electron gun, 400 to 900 vdc depending. On some models it is adjusted by knobs inside the chassis, on high-end machines it is adjusted by the keypad in a service menu. What projector do you have?

Ampro 4600.
I had some board problems and sent the boards to Curt. Since my setup is gone the way of the Dodo I have to start at the beginning. While chasing the problem G2 came up so I'm assuming that it is one of many thing I now have to look at.

I'm guessing you know where the G2 adjustment knobs are?

Yep.

What I usually do is turn off all 3 tubes with the remote. Then while looking into each color lens, turn up the G2 until you can see the raster. Then slowly turn it down until the raster just disappears. Do this for all 3 colors. G2 is then done. Turn the 3 tubes back on and with no signal being inputed, set the brightness at 50% and contrast down to maybe 20%. Then go into the sub brightness controls in the remote and again looking into each color lens adjust up the coresponding color until you see the raster, then adjust down until the raster just disappears. After all three colors are done, if you increase the master brightness, all 3 colors should come on at the same time and lowering it all 3 should disappear at the same time. The G2 and sub brightness is now done.

Another method has been suggested in the past. I like this one that i have always used.

Cool.
As soon as I get the boards back in I'll get to this.
My battery died so I get to start from zip.
Thanks

Shoot me an email. I dont want to post online because your not suppose to adjust the G2 in a PG. But if it's been messed with I believe I had found the best method to get it back to where it should be.
