it's just another 100000 miles on the odometer...crt prices have been in a nice decline pattern, and there is nothing to stop any further decline.

I still like the image of my xglc, but the 200 dollar joe kane dlp I bought on ebay beat it in several areas. One of the key areas is color...ruler flat greyscale and dead on accurate primary colors right out of the box. In many scenes...it simply looked better. And it was 200 on ebay...200 doesn't even cover shipping of a crt. And this thing had 3800 hours on it...only 2 bulbs. THat's more hours than I would use in a long, long....long, long time.

It didn't make me take the xglc down...but why would I? Once you're in on crt...there's no huge reason to get out. Unless you need money...plus, it's a pain in the ass to take off the ceiling and try to sell it..etc.etc. If they were both in my basement and neither was already installed, the choice would be simple.

Okay, none of this is new info...so how it equate to the massive drop in value that you purported would happen in the next year? Something would have to precipitate such a large drop rather than the very gradual (if at all) decline that high-end CRTs like Cliff's have been in for years. I'm asking what you think that event is that will cause the large drop in value.

I just don't argue with the naysayers anymore. As for Ben:

'I think CRT is a waste of time, totally useless... but I still watch a CRT'.

Go figure.

The main positive of CRT: It just doesn't have the digital image. No matter how many times you go back and forth between a CRT and a digital PJ, any Digital PJ, the CRT just looks better.

I only switch to digital when my analog projectors have issues, which is rare and far between.

This type of discussion always makes me laugh. If you want a digital go and get one and then go to the digital forum on this site and stay there. By the way if you have any CRT parts in good condition let the rest of us know and they will go to a good home.

ok...i'll relent here...keep your crt as it is a rock solid investment. Someone owns two 9 inchers and is talking about needing capital..my advice is sell now as it will be worth less later...I didn't think it was that radical.

What could precipitate a further drop in its value?? How about a serious recession? how about used jvc's for lower prices?

Why do people argue simple concepts...if you need money and your main assets are 2 9 inch crt's...sell them...and sell them now.
