I picked up a Barco 1200 that did not work a while back. When I called the owner he said the tubes were in excellent condition and were Sonys. So I thought they would be 09MFX tubes. I bought it thinking I will either make it work or use the tubes for my 1292. I got it home and got it working for a moment so I know the tubes all work and they are mint. It does have issues so I pulled the tubes only to find they are 09MI. Will these work in the 1292 and if so will they need any modification. Thank you.

09MI neck is about 1/2 inch shorter, so I guess you can't get 1292 hardware (yokes and magnets) fit to neck.
Also cutted pins might cause problems with 1292.

Other way around it works, I got 1292 tube to fit in BG1200.

Hi,

If you do the tube swap will the LC hardware from the bg1200 green be going spare? I've got c-elements but could do with another LC tank, let me know if you want to sell it.

Thanks,

Jon

PM me an offer for the tank, or better yet offer for the set of tubes complete with 1200 tanks. They are mint but some pins were cut. I believe that makes them unusable in my 1292 so the whole set is available if you're interested. I know they work in the 1200.

Is there a difference in tube performance?

It was bit sharper, but it was also brand new and red (always sharpest) so it's hard to tell.

Have you checked which pin 1292 neck board deliver G1?

If it's pin 3 or it could be modifiet to it, then it's ok.

Sony tubes have three pins for G1 (3/8/12) and 8/12 are cutted in BG1200.

Too short neck would be harder to fix, check that first. Very Happy

Does anyone know the length of the standard 1292 tubes? I believe they're 09MFX. Thanks.

1292 tubes are 09MFX3.

09MFX2 is AC version from same tube, those have been used in some flight simulators.

Can't remember 09MFX3 full lenght, but dimension from the centre of the HV cap to the end of the plastic connector is 368 mm (14.5"). I checked from my old post that 09MI/MX neck is exactly 14 mm shorter.

09MFX3 and 09MEX2 are of the same length and that is 17" or about 43cm.
