|
|
Hello all.
I've been using my NEC XG-751 (75A) for quite a while now, and I absolutely love the thing. Now that I'm confident it's electronically stable since fixing its issues, I'm looking for a couple new tubes for it.
My blue (P16LJE07BMB) is what many would consider pretty toasted. It's about a 4-3 on the scale with a 4:3 burn. I am really searching for a replacement for it more than anything. Light wear is fine, with a maxed out raster preferably.
The green (also an 07) is about an 8-7 on the wear scale, and even though I'm scanning past the wear area, with the blue tube cut off I don't find the burn really noticeable, and not at all objectionable. It could of course be better, so a newer green would be nice to have too.
My red tube is perfect, so no need for that (unless it's really cheap...).
I'm not looking to spend a whole lot on these, so lightly worn used tubes are perfect. If 07/08/09's are all compatible, it doesn't really matter which. I will obviously perform grayscale alignment (and everything else) on the new combination. I run the projector with a 16:9 raster aspect ratio.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
–Tom

Well that blue looks much better than the one that's in there now, but that offset static image burn worries me.
Would you happen to have any full-white screenshots from your XG running these tubes? I'd like to see how noticeable it would be in operation.
Anyone else have any ideas on how usable that blue tube might be?
My red tube is mint, so I'm not too interested in that one.

This is what the tubes look like now, for comparison.
They're in the order red, green, blue. As you can see, pretty bad blue.

For what you're going to pay for a green better than yours, I'd most certainly concentrate on the blue. I'll check, but I don't think I have any thing.

I still have these in the basement somewhere. You can have them for nearly nothing (shipping + paypal fees + enough for a beer or coffee).

Tom,
I bought the Nec xg 1350 knowing I was going to re-tube and change it from a AC to LC.
I powered the unit up 2 years ago when I bought it and did quick setup on it. I could see some static burn I think it was mostly coming from the green tube.

Dan,
I think I'd like to give that blue tube of yours a try. I'll think it over and PM you an offer soon.
Greg,
If your XG tubes didn't look worse than mine (collectively), I'd totally take you up on your offer. What's the other projector though? It looks like an LC something, but I don't know enough about other models to tell.
Thanks for the input and offers!

Dan,
I'm very sorry I couldn't contact you sooner, but I'm currently looking into some leads on tubes without that kind of uneven wear.
Based on what I've heard, even though the burns don't look bad in comparison to mine, they would still be pretty objectionable due to the unevenness.
I might still be interested in yours for the mounting hardware and magnets though, so I will let you know as soon as I can (within a day or two). If not, I'm sure you can find a buyer interested in those parts.
So sorry again for the delay. I wish I had caught you before you boxed it up.
