All of a sudden I started getting "High memory usage" warnings. When I look in task manager I see a bunch of stuff under the "processes" tab. There is 53 processes and most of it I don't recognize and there is multiples of the same thing.
After doing a search for TM problems I came upon a post that says that all legit processes should NOT have capitol letters in their name and can be eliminated. Half of my running processes have capitols. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Did you search by "task manager"? You might want to write down the processes that are running and search by those individually. I think you will find a lot more info.

There's this: http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/ and post the results here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic86678.html .

Its a bit time consuming, but its a very comprehensive way of dealing with unknowns on your computer.

Depending on the operating system, programs you have installed, ans so forth, you should have anywhere between 20 and 45 processes running.

Windows XP after a fresh install has no more than 20 processes running. Windows Vista and Windows 7 have usually 30-45 depending on if its a fresh install, or a "recovery" install from a factory OEM partition on your computer. Usually OEM recoverys will install the original software shipped with the computer as well, so you will have more processes running because of it.

http://microsoft.com/security_essentials MSE or Microsoft Security Essentials, works from windows XP to windows 7, would be a great program to go ahead and scan your computer if you are worried about having a virus or spyware/malware.

Hope this helps! Smile
