Hopefully get to it later today. For clarification: Red turned off by holding button (red) on remote. Green and blue off the same way. Turning red knob on neck board shuts down all glow on face of tubes with the exception of the red that shows lines. No input at RGB board. |
Does the glow and/or lines on the red tube disappear when you turn the red off with the button on the remote?

Still working on the pics
I should just get the red board in the mail to you.
I'm still scratching my head as to why I'm having 2 or 3 boards go south at the same time. |
You have to toe out the red tube some so that it will fit. Your just doing testing so it doesn't matter that the tube is not projecting correctly. If it wont clear well on the green, try it on the blue. I have swapped them around many times for testing while repairing.
Chip ole boy.... Even if the red was cut off and/or there was no input connection at all, he would still be able to turn the red tube completely off with the G2 adjustment. He claims he can't along with the lines. |
At this point I'm not sure what he's claiming

The lines are there with the red tube turned off at the remote and are still there withe red G2 knob fully left.

Ok, back to neck board or tube then.
I'd still like to see a picture though.

I'll loosen the tube clamps and try to fit the red on green and other way around . See if the problem stays put or moves.
Thanks

Ever have one of those days when you should have stayed in bed?
In moving the boards around I managed to bend one of the pins near the top on the back of the green tube. Obviously if it breaks off the tube is done. It ain't easy to get at.
Any suggestions or sympathy would be appreciated.

I'll do that
For the moment a bent pin on the green tube has to be straightened and my neck won't let me look up for very long at a time. This is going to take a while.

We feel your pain Ray. Just try to straighten it back out and hope for the best. If you do get it straight just put the good green board back on and leave it alone.
Try what Chip is saying and if that doesn't work just send the red board to Curt and let him check it. Or if he has a good red for you to try.

Are you sure you don't have the red cut off?? Try 65[code] which toggles red cut-off and see what happens. Are you sure you don't have a bad connection at the red BNC on the rear.
Another thing that can cause diag lines on the tube face (with a X600 chassis) is incorrect left and right blanking. Those settings would also be lost with a quickie battery swap. Try looking directly into a lens while moving the left and right blanking to see if it effects the lines you see.
Turn on your source and confirm it and the cables between source and projector. Re-seat cables at each end.
I don't know what channel the projector is trying to boot up on but once it is up and running do a 29[code] (clear active channel). Next do a 54[code] to insure the on screen display is active. With the on screen display active you can look into the green or blue while you toggle red cut-off (65[code]) to insure it is on. If the projector will stay running now, with the source on, do a 4[test] (gen-locked test pattern) and look at the tube face. The settings after clearing the active channel should be low and small enough as to not harm the tubes. Cycle through the available test patterns until you get a center cross. While looking into the lens on each tube, raise or lower each individual colors brightness and contrast to 50. then press the static button to put static brightness to 50 and static contrast to 70. then while still looking into each lens set the G-2 knob on each neck board until the raster is just seen behind the test pattern.
Report back |
I have the projector on the floor now so that I can get at it without bending my neck the wrong way.I got the pin straightened on the green board and put all the boards back on. With the G2 knob all the way left on all three and no input connected I turned the red on and it came on bright and then "high beam current"

I would adjust the blanking if it would stay on long enough.
Since I moved it to get at the bent pins the problem has evolved into red overload similar to what the blue was doing with a cracked resistor. I have done a visual inspection and I don't see anything.
