Morning All! I used a cable to take the output from the iPad's 3.5mm 'cinch' style headphone jack and input the stereo signal into the Phono input on my recycled Pioneer Elite VSX-45 receiver. The result is music that sounds muffled--even the wife agrees (its her music).

At first I thought I had the iPad's internal EQ engages on a deep-bass profile for when she was using headphones, but the EQ is actually off. Any ideas? The Pioneer is in factory reset condition and in Music Mode. I think I'm going to have to adjust the receiver's Bass from default to non-existent.

And yes, we have compared it to playing the same music in a BD player. Also, I tried a different two-channel input as well. Could this be due to the iPad output volume being insufficient to deliver a proper line-level voltage across the 3' cable?

Did you plug it into the Phono input, as in the one meant for a turn table?

That is the last one I tried, yes. But not the only one I tried. This AVR is pre-iPod/iPad.

First off dont use the phono input.

Did you try putting the ipod volume on full and control with the Pioneer volume? There also maybe an input attenuation setting.

I tried the MD-1 and CD-R and they both worked much better. Using the Phone or any of the Video-paired audio inputs were muffled. Thanks again for the help. Wife really likes being able to not have to break out a disk to play her music.
