2580 is for unlock an unknown password, but you are not allowed to set a new password to 2580 nor 0000.

Thanks gjaky, your post gave the solution. Too bad that I cannot set the standard 2580 password anymore. What if I forget the custom pass? Oh, I could post it here Will do after it is changed from my personal default 4 digit pass code.
Other than that the mod is completed. Only the donor PGplus waits to be completed with the PG parts.
Had the 10 PG and 10 PGplus running in stack mode and was frightend to get used to the contrast power of the picture. As convergence and picture stability was hard to match I think to be better of with a single Projector. The stacking is a nice toy and playing around with is fun. Overall picture quality and user comfort is better with a single projector though. Some very experienced guy even stated that the G90 would be the only machine to have sufficient stability for converging two 1080P pictures.
At high contrast setting the 10PG has a power supply issue which the xtra never had. Anybody knows, if I can use two power supply units in parallel to increase stability?

The 2580 unlocks ALL unknown passcode 2580 is the MASTER code, that's why you are not allowed to set it to 2580.
You can't simply parallel power supplies.

I guess I could but would I like the consequences? If it is juust a tripping unit with failure code, then that would be better than white smoke or sparkling rain.

Hi,
sin ce some time my machine is having issues, flipping out on convergence, flickering blue , scrambeled menues. Thought it would be related to warm ambient summer tempertures, maybe one of the extra fans died. Yet I didn't bother to open the hushbox and check.
Then the start up probs began, it took several attempts untill the tubes would fire up. Since tonight they don't light up, even after 10 or more trials.
Could that be the power supply?
Cheers

The scrambled menu symptom can actually cause no picture condition as well. I don't know if the PG+ has the automatic picture mute during scan switching function, if it has disable it. After that, If a no picture condition appears try to push the "end" button a few times, it should bring back the picture IF the scrambling is causing the no picture condition.

No, there is a fault here, and you need to open that projector up and check a few things, starting with the scan fail lights on the DEF board.

Not that the scrambling menu is not a fault... Otherwise if any of the scan fail lights are on that causes an immediate shut down with an error code, but of course he should check that too.
We don't know if he is still running on the original cap base the unit, that could be an other clue.

The scramble menus probably is the DEF board if the source is not locking, and that is what I gather he is trying to say, although I cant be sure.

I had the exact same problems when it was time to re-cap my PG10. They are getting old.

Right now the problem is that the tubes won't light up at all. Before that there was just weird behaviour once in a while, later then came the start up probs on top.
Today I faced my anxiety and opened the hush box. Display shows oo, so no error message. But the red LED nect to the 3 defocus pots on the def board lights up. So what does that mean?
and no, I don't want to recap the whole projector.
Cheers hansilili

Okay, forum search gave me one hit. Curt advised elsewhere to disconnect focus and convergence board to narrow down the fault. However, there the machine shut down after a couple of secs an two LEDs lit. My machine runs steadily and only one the one LED lights - and none of the tubes.

That is indeed strange. That LED indicates the vertical deflection failure. With that the machine usually shuts itself off. If you have a spare deflection board (even from a plain PG) you should swap it to find out if really the DEF board is bad.

yes, I can swap the Def board (and hopefully don't blow the spare as well)
Still, can that be the reason for no light from the bulbs?

You either need to go through and check capacitors or you need to buy all the boards from someone that has replaced them allready. That is your two options at this point i reckon.

This morning I checked my spare 10PG and it worked just fine. So I took it's defelction board and put it on the 10PG+. The tubes still don't light up but now there is no red LED lit.
After 30 sec or so the projector shut down with E0 error. This could be related to my fan tuning, which is partly fed by 15V taken from the original 10PG+ Def Board (not in service for this test).
I love it!

There's a small capacitor near the middle of the deflection board that can trip the HV line.
I had no HV after a long time not running my pg10. After tearing my hair out, Curt mentioned this to me and.... that's what it was.
It's near one of the LED's I think. I'm out of the PG market completely (Went digital) so I can't give you the location number.
But it's a very quick one to try before you go mad.

So he should just throw out his projectors? Why not just fix it if he can? There are a few people here who can actually trouble shoot a pj, but with this effort we should close up this whole forum and only leave a small message: "Buy a new one from Curt"

Because this is a machine worth fixing. Why are you here asking that question?
