I have a Zenith 900x. The red CRT was working fine and then all of the sudden it doesn't project an image. I does light up, but does not project an image. I'm really new to this stuff and this might be a stupid question but does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong? Thanks in advance.

Man, with all teh spammers going on here lately, I thought for sure you were one! Smile

Welcome!

This should be pretty easy to narrow down.

On the top back of the RGB input board, there are three min RCA cables, one labeled red, one green, and one blue. INterchange the red with one of the other ones. Does the red tube now project light, and the other tube not, or is the red still out?

(top left of the image shows the connectors). Wiggle them off by grabbing the metal, don't pull on the wire.

Thanks for your quick replay. I don't have a video source that use the RGB inputs. I'm using the s-video input. So I have no way of checking it this way. Any other ideas:\

I just re-read your post. I think I misunderstood it. I've re-looked at your photo and I think I understand now what you meant. I'll check this out and get back to you. Thanks again for your patience and help.

I'm talking about the small black wires at the top of the RGB input board. Doesn't matter if you're running RGB in or video or Svideo./

That set is capable of doing 1080i hi-definition and it's showing 480i video only. Call me crazy but I think that matters plenty Laughing
Adam after you fix your machine get a HD Fury 2 and a blue ray player, it's well worth it IMO

I'll definitely look into the fury II idea. I swapped the mini rca's and the lack of picture on the red tube switched to the green tube. So we know it's not a bad tube.

get that board fro m Curt +a Fury and you'll be seeing something totally new from your Zenith.
The only issue you might have is that BD players come from the factory set at 1080P, so you'll need to get into the menu's and change that to 1080i. Curt can the Z900 display 1080P just long enough to do this or?

Curt, by switching the mini rca's the lack of signal switched from the red tube to the green tube. What should I do now? Thanks in advance for your help.

OK, the problem is on the RGB input board that they connect to. It's a flat rate of $275 incl return shipping to repair it, they are a nightmare to repair, and I have no working spares left, sorry!

Does this mean I buy a refurbished one from you or send you mine and you fix it for $275.

You send me yours and I'll repair it. The memory chip is on that board, so if I send you one of mine (if I had one), you'd need to fully reconverge the unit, which is a PITA on those sets.

new development...the tube works intermittently. You've isolated to the RGB board but is it normal for it to come on interminably?
